My grandfather gave me his M1 Carbine several years ago. He passed away at the end of June. I don't know how much he knew about the rifle, or even when he purchased it- but I am interested in finding out. It was built by Inland Manufacturing in September of 1943, and the serial number is 698794 (as stamped on the top of the receiver). Does anyone know how I could find out about the history of this rifle? I did a quick google search but didn't find anything helpful.

hey fastzntn, let me look into it.

if it were a garand, I'd be able to tell you where it was made, what unit it was issued to, and if any armory mods were made to it during its lifetime.

as its an m1 carbine, I'm not sure..let me do some digging
