We had a decent turnout for April, so let's keep it going. This time it's going to be a little more difficult, please read the rules and see the "required shooting style" for May at the bottom.

1.) Be safe!

2.) Must use the target below (follow link for printable target); also write your screen name, gun, ammo, date etc. on the target.

3.) Your submitted target must have 10 shots only on it. Best ten shot group wins. If you take 20 targets to the range that day and choose the best target of the 20, fine by me. Only one can be submitted per contestant per month, though. (If you wish, you may submit a target for each caliber if you chose to shoot more than one gun, but only one taget per caliber per month per person)

4.) Unless otherwise stated, we will not be shooting from a rest.

5.) Have fun and get your friends involved!

6.) To submit your entry, take a photo of your target (and because we love guns, have your gun in the picture, too so we can drool over your glocks, 1911's, CZ's, revolvers, etc.). Submit the photo in the thread for the month. If you have questions about uploading photos, feel free to ask. A number of people can help.

7.) Past winners will be immortalized in a "hall of fame" list in each monthly thread for all to marvel at.

8.) Entry's due the last day of the month, by 11:59PM and 59 seconds. Winners will be announced within a day or two.

9.) There will be two divisions....centerfire pistols and rimfire pistols. You can shoot in either of those categories or both. It makes no difference to me. Just submit a different target for each if you want to do both. And please mark on your target if it's a rimfire submission.

Within those two divisions will be a women's division as well (not that men are better shots or anything).

IMPORTANT - Please feel free to congradulate and encourage everyone on their shooting when you submit targets, all I ask is that if you do reply to someone's post, please DO NOT include the picture of their target, this makes it harder for me to go through all the submissions to determine the winner. Thanks for understanding!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*The person who has the most wins (men and women) at the end of the year will each receive 2 boxes (100 rounds) of target ammo on me (upon availibility/pistol ammo only/I choose brand). I'll mail ammo for those located in either West of East Tennessee. In the event of a tie, the scores from each month will be added to create a final score; if a tie continures after that, we will have a "shoot-off" with 2 targets per person, 5 shots each, one target shot at with right hand, one target shot at with left hand. If a tie STILL exists, we'll have a good ole' fashioned dual, and whoever is the last one standing wins. If both fall I keep the ammo :rofl:
Here's the target for this competition:
May Rules:
1) 10yrds out
2) One handed (strong hand) - no cheating :P
3) Post a picture of the target and gun together
Good luck, have fun, and be safe!
for those with the option.........SA or DA?
Whichever you prefer. What we'll probably do is split it into two categories for those with DAO guns/revolvers. This month is more to practice shooting one handed if the situation arises and you can't assume your normal two handed firing postion.
10 yards and one handed will open them groups up.
Stupid question . . can we rest between shots on these? Take two shots, bring the weapon down, wait, up and two more shots?
Or is that just understood? Will that be a challenge later . . 10 shots with no resting?
On the last one I just keep on target for 10 shots but that was two hands and only 7 yards. I think on this if I'm holding the gun out at arms length for 10 shots at 10 yards I'll be lucky to hit the paper on the last one.
You can rest all you want b/t shots, you just can't "use a rest" :screwy:
One month we'll probably have a "semi-rapid fire" contest where you have to take 10 shots as quickly as possible. I know some ranges don't allow rapid fire, but what I'm suggesting is like one shot per second (no resting in b/t).
***Please check out the first post with the contest rules, I've added an update about a prize (albeit small) that will be awarded to whom ever has the most wins at the end of the year***
Um, might have an issue with this since mine holds only 8 at a time...:tinfoil:
Yeah, I thought about that, so I'll adjust the # of shots for the rapid fire contest.
Also, for those of you with revolvers, we will limit you're shots when we do this to 5/6 in the "Revolver Division". But alas, this is for another month in the future, let's get back to May's contest....
Just wondering if the contest in the future will have to be changed to "if you've got any ammo to shoot at a target, you win." :up:
After that month's winner we can switch to slingshots. We can have several divisions.
Slingshots - No wrist stablizers allowed in order to keep the cost down.
  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Composite
Ammo
  • Rocks - Rock size to be determined by JHatmaker. No dirt clods.
  • Ball bearings - for the people that can afford the ammo.
Or we can take a vote and see if we want to go first to BB guns, then Airsoft guns, and then slingshots. (If we go the BB gun or Airsoft route, I'll have to get the okay from my son to borrow his guns.)
Just a thought. ;)
If things continue to worsen regarding the ammo availability situation, we'll just have ourselves a good ol' joust...
Ok, ok, we get the idea, now post some targets! We're almost half-way through the month and not one submission. Does no one like FREE ammo?!
First one who posts a target gets to add one point to their overall score!
If that's really 10 shots @ 10 yrds out strong-hand ONLY, congrats, you're better than most SWAT sharp shooters... gotta admit, I'm a little skeptical... but nice shooting.
not trying to be a d**k, but... just couldn't help noticing (i remember the gun, i used to own the same one)... your only down a few points from last month's two-handed @ 7yrds shoot (remarkably similar groupings too)... that's amazing (and maybe a little unbelievable...)!
reminds me... i went golfing the other day and hit 9 hole-in-ones... or of maybe that time I hooked that 15ft bass!:D
Thanks.
I, myself, was shocked to see that kind of shooting that day. I brought 20 targets on that day and I got that score in 3rd target. After that, I was averaging 80-85. The gun itself was modified by GGI and the gun shoots damn good. I tell you that.:D:)
Yeah, whatever.
Why don't you post a pic of yours then?
I hope to soon... but don't know if i've improved as dramatically since last month as you have... maybe I better have these GGI folks work on my gun first... They must be magicians.:koolaid:
I call a truce. Until others weigh in, I'll consider myself mistaken.
