Looking for info on dash cams

After several close calls, other drivers stupidity, I am looking for a quality dash cam for the wife's vehicle. Too many time drivers have passed us on the shoulder, crossed 2 lanes to exit at speed, come right up to our rear bumper at speed (phone heads). I need something to show the cops in the event of a wreck. Any suggestion as to where and what to look for would be most appreciated. I really don't want this to be turned into a bad driver bashing thread, we all know traffic sucks.

I have a garmin 46 in my car and a garmin 56 in my wifes car. Both have done well with no problems over 3 year span. Phone app works well also. I would recommend either.

I just put this one in my truck today. It replaced a $20 that has worked fine. I just wanted something a bit better without spending a lot of money. There are dozens of youtube videos of it.

I have two of these VIOFO A129 Pro Duo 4K Dual Dash Cam

They work well, and record both forward and backward at the same time.  I like it, but one of my vehicles (Silverado), it interferes with the brake sensors so I can't use the rare camera.

Quite a few features to ponder on, WiFi, 3 cameras, GPS. I never knew such existed in a dash cam. A varied price range as well. All good suggestions gents, thank you.

Look on YouTube for the "Wham Bam Dashcam" and in the description they mention a dashcam & code

I have been using them for years. The Car Audio places around here do not carry them because they tend to not last that long and the do not like warranting them. I have them in 3 cars. I just look at reviews online. I have a guy that installs them for me for 40 bucks. I always get the front and back cameras and have them wired to turn off and on when we start the car.

For my Jeep I needed a unique solution, so I got this one because I can't see traffic out the back due to the spare tire. It mounts on your rearview to replace the mirror w/ a touch screen that I can use as a fulltime rearview display or I can watch/manage the videos. It's been flawless since I installed it over 4 years ago.

Thanks for all the replies. So many choices and features to look at. I went the cheap route for now......Ebay

For $30 I can learn about the features I want and don't want. Plus if it gets stolen or broken, the loss is no big deal

Heck yeah, smart call. My first one before I upgraded had that EXACT same rear camera. I liked it and it was easier to mount than my current one. I hope to hear what you think of that one. I might buy one for my daughter's car, if you give a good report.

I will give my feedback of it one way or another, if it ever gets here.

So-- read through this thread and decided that a Dash cam might make a good Christmas present for my wife. Decided to go with the above one that eRay posted. Hopefully the install isn't too difficult and that it works as described. After 36 years of marriage it isn't easy to find gifts that matter. If nothing else it will be there if needed--🙃

it's good to have evidence if/when it is needed. There is a lot of swoop and squat wrecks going on, especially around the holidays. I plan on getting some bumper stickers made that say "Smile for my dash cam"  have them printed in reverse to be read in a rear view mirror.

I just plugged mine in and it worked. I like that it is simple with large buttons. My old $20 unit worked but everything was so small that I had trouble using it with my old shaky fat fingers. If Amazon puts this Rove on sale for Black Friday, I plan to get another one.

Wondering if you have yours installed yet, I just ordered 2 of them for me and the wife.

Well they arrived and are working fine. The screen is tiny, the instructions were microscopic in text but once I enlarged them, it was easy to set up.
