Reloaded carry ammo isn't wise for a number of reasons. Do a search.

I agree….. Absolutely people should research what they are going top carry. They should research what people have to say, who they are, and why they are saying what they are saying.

And I am absolutely amazed at some of the statements in this thread. But they won’t cost me my life, and hopefully the forum members will do their research before it costs them their life or the life of a family member.

I reload 9mm in jhp and fmj, but for carry I use 115g Federal Hydrashocks.

I have complete confidence in my reloads, but I still stick to factory for carry.

165 grain Speer Gold Dot in 40 S&W.

I used to use Speer Gold Dots for my CCW (Glock 32) and HD pistols. But now I just use Winchester USA JHP's for all my handguns.

125g in 357SIG

Now I'm looking for a good load for my .357 MAG Right now I'm using Blazer HP's.

i personally use Hornady TAP 230 grain +p jhp (.45acp). it's more accurate than i am and i've not had any problems out of it. also seems to hold up better to multiple fullspeed chambering then speer gold dots do

I'm still carring 180 "black Talons" in my .40 and 230 gr +P in my 1911 from GA. Arms I agree with MARS that a FMJ is preferable in a smaller caliber. And I definitely think frangible are BS. I like what Ive heard from the expandable full metal jacket crowd and may give them a try. You have to decide if you want your assailant to bleed out while he kills you or you want to stop him in his tracks with a round that can disrupt the central nervous system or brain .

Federal Hydra Shocks in the 9mm snub for carry; 158 gr LSWCHP +P .38spl in my wife's 642 on her side of the bed; either .44spl Winchester Silvertips or .45ACP Speer Gold Dots on my side. I bought a box of +P+ 9mm Buffalo Bore HP's from the Rabbi a while back and shot a few from the snub. It's been several months now, and the feeling is coming back to my wrist.

Federal Hydra Shocks in both my .45 ACP carry guns.

40 S&W, various brass and primers, 7.5gr of Longshot and Rainier or Berry's plated 165gr hollow points. Accurate, clean and inexpensive and I do believe they will expand.

230 gr +P Golden Saber in my .45's, I like it because it comes close to ball ammo in profile, compared to a lot of the "squared-off" hollowpoints.

125 g r+P Gold Dot in my Airweight. Switching to 158 gr Buffalo Bore (standard velocity) if it's not much more flash or recoil though--just haven't gotten to the range to test it out. If it's more, I'll just pick up a 640 and run it through that instead.

Speer Gold Dots in everything. In my 9mm's 124 gr, in my .357 Sig 125 gr and 135 gr +P in the .38 snubbie. I have a box of Rangers 115 gr +P+ from the Rabbi, mainly because they were relatively cheap and I wanted to try 'em...I'm thinking a 115 gr +P+ may be too fast i.e. go zipping right through a target but may be good for the zombie masses

Holey dead thread batman

Threads never die around here. They're like that worthless relationship we've all had at one time or another: they go away, then come back. Go away, come back. Go away,... Anyway, I carry Winchester 155 grain Silvertips in .40. They're pricey, though. About a buck each. Might try that Double Tap ammo that folks were talking about a while back.

Double-Tap in all carry-guns:

.357sig: 147gr Gold-Dot @ 1250fps - 510ft-lb, from 4" barrel

.45gap: 185gr Gold-Dot @ 1150fps - 543ft-lb, from a 4.5" barrel

.45acp: 230gr Gold-Dot @ 1010fps - 521ft-lb, from a 5" barrel

They are loaded to higher velocity than most, within SAAMI pressures, using the best (IMHO) bonded-JHP bullet available (Speer Gold-Dot). Fairly in-expensive too, compared to some of the big-brand makers who price for high profit-margins. (free shipping on 1000+rd, too)

Hornaday Tap .45acp: 230gr +P
