Raven arms mp-25 slide will not disassemble

Recommended Posts

I own a Raven Arms MP-25 automatic pistol and the slide cannot be removed from the gun, please help! I’m trying to repair it to give to my grandfather I tried the correct way and the slide will not lift from the main body of the gun no matter how hard I try, I’m fairly new to firearms repair but not to handling them by the way…thanks!

Remove the magazine and pull the trigger. The gun must be uncocked. Look at the rear of the slide. Notice that circle around the firing pin hole. That's the slide catch.  Use a punch, pen, pencil, whatever and push it in. Leave the slide in the full forward position. With the lock pushed in, lift  up on the rear of the slide until it clears the frame. It should come off by moving it forward a bit and lifting up.

BTW: be careful of that slide catch. Its spring load and will take off like a rocket. 😲

Another BTW: Note the direction of the firing pin. If you put it back in backwards the gun will go together, but it won't feed. 🙄

Yep, its a cheap POS gun. But the darned things are absolutely reliable and go bang every single time. I like mine. 😃

Have had a version of this labeled American Firearms. Think it is same gun from the 70’s

Grayfox correctly explained disassembly.

mine has been missing the extractor since the late 1980’s. Still works and ejects spent rounds. Apparently that part was not needed for actual firing 😀, just for extracting a live round.

Was going to save it for a gun buyback but could never keep my self respect if I did that

Good luck on cleaning it up. Not much to go wrong

btw , anyone have an extra magazine for sell?

Apparently people made some sort of 3d print prototype and mags are going for a premium. Special thanks to the member who took time out of his day to drop one off to me one winter day and wouldn’t accept anything in return. I have two of them, I just think they’re neat little Saturday night specials.
