Mosin Scope Question

I just bought a Mosin Nagant 91/30 and am thinking about replacing the rear site with a rail and getting a long eye relief scope for it.

Anyone have any suggestions or comments? I've considered getting a Holo sight as well...

I have an m44 and did this but did not like it so I took off the scope and rail and put the iron site back on. I am more accurate with the plain sites. If you are intrested I think I still have the rail, scope and all mounting hardware.

Most people seem disappointed with anything but original Russian milsurp (Expensive) mounts and optics. Most aftermarket stuff is not very solid.

I picked up a 91/30 a few monthe ago and replaced the stock with a synthetic monte carlo and had a Simmons long relief scope installed, so I guess you could say it"s a poor boys scout rifle. The Mosin is a Tula w/hex reciever, numbers matching. I have only tried it at 200yds but at that range it's pretty serious. If you want to build one to keep, I highly recomend you do so. The ammo is pretty cheap and they shoot really hard. The only negative I can say is that if you ever try to sell people expect low prices and don't take into consideration modifacations you have made. On the other hand, I get a big kick out of out shooting the high dollar rifles with my poor boy special
