By popular demand. Thanks for the leads guys. I don't have the patience to read the want ads.

Top is a .44 magnum, new to me deerfield carbine. Tube fed. Same weight and feel as the 10/22, better wood and a real big hole in the muzzle. I always wanted one, and finally after all these years, I got one. This one is pretty clean and the wood is excellent. These were sold as hunting pieces and for the most part, used hard and put away wet. This is a tube fed older model. I never liked the idea of a rotary magazine on this rifle. I made do with a .30/.30 for endless years. I always dreamed of that semi-auto .44 mag stopping power...

Bottom is my old 10/22, bought brand spanking new in 1981. I bought a new barrel and stock from a member here that put on a fat barrel kit and had leftover. My stock was long gone, super glued many times and finally replaced with a ramline unit...that I never liked. Rifleing was shot out. Replaced the bolt a long time ago. The only thing left from the original is the receiver and some of the trigger mechanism. I don't like a fat barrel on them. The original stock and configuration is tough to beat, imo. Scope is a nikon 2x7 shotgun scope.

The pic really doesn't do the .44 justice. Best I could do:

You may have been the last person to buy a gun off LSN......this was posted when I went there just a min ago

4-29-2009: We regret to inform our users that the "Firearms" category has been removed from the Local Sales Network to comply with 3rd party policies. please read more...

Google notified us on April 28th that weapon-related content is in violation of their policies. They gave us 72 hours to remove the content if LSN is to continue earning income through Google's advertising campaigns.

We understand this will displease a portion of the LSN community. Realize this action was not only difficult but absolutely required to maintain LSN operating revenue. The Local Sales Network is a FREE service; the majority of financial support is earned through our 3rd party [banner advertisers].

As a result, you may no longer place any Ads in any category advertising the sale of guns, rifles, firearms, ammo, or promoting any website that advocate the sale of the above.

Gun enthusiasts, email for more information.

Important! If you had any active Firearm Ads containing paid extras (featured, bold, advanced, or attention-getters), please contact support or send an email to support@golsn.com. We will credit your account, or refund the cost of any currently active features.

Thank you for your continued support, LSN is proud to serve your community!

Ahhh - you're gonna love that Ruger.44 carbine. Sold mine (deer killin' mochine!) to my younger brother, and the turd never would sell it back to me!! So I found another (Ruger.44, not brother!), and am hangin' on to this one.

I saw this thread & thought of this pic. I got it off another board, so it is not mine but a dang fine collection!

Woah. Somebody likes ruger handguns.

As a footnote on this thread, It took me awhile to get the action out of the stock, the receiver got frozen into the metal piece that sits in the back of the stock. It has either never been removed, or the last time was back in about 1979. The metal is all in pretty good shape, had some rust growing down in there. The metal is not really pitted...its like the rust grew across the surface. Came right off with gentle work with an old bore brush after an oil soak. I have it literally soaking in 3 in 1 oil in prep for a detail strip.

I don't think this thing has been fired 100 times based on the condition of the lands.

I may install some sort of recoil buffer, but it'll stay stock otherwise.

At one point or another I have owned a version of most of those Rugers in that picture except for the Bisley models.
