Email sent to the gov and I need some clarification please. I keep reading the papers state it still has the age restriction. I thought they redefined it to not use the age restriction. So is the age limit in or out and the media is screwing up their reporting like normal?

ON MAY 4, 2009, THE CONFERENCE COMMITTEE MET AND ADOPTED A MAJORITY REPORT. THE MAJORITY REPORT RECOMMENDS THAT HOUSE AMENDMENT #1 BE DELETED AND THAT SENATE AMENDMENT #1 (AS DESCRIBED ABOVE) BE ADOPTED.

Here is the Senate amendment:

AMENDMENT #1 removes the provisions of House Amendment #1 and thus reinstates the provisions of the original bill. This amendment also revises the original bill to remove the requirement that the restaurant not be an age-restricted venue in order for a person who has a handgun carry permit and otherwise complies with the bill to carry a handgun into the restaurant.

Glad it passed. I've been out of the civilized world,(ie TN), in the western part of the country.

Look for vacation photos to come after I get some sleep. Been up about 22 hours today.

Yep...almost worth a butt whippin...lol

Really looking like the 10 day window could extend past June 1st though.

Went to the Gov today. Let us see what he does. It seems the delay was because of the House speaker dicking around to putting his signature on it.

I spoke with Channel 4 & 5 news this morning (Nashville Tn) regarding my support of the Restaurant Carry Bill. I am not exactly sure when it will air. I have been told it could be on as early as 4:00pm today or as late as 10:00pm tonight and possibly again tomorrow. I spoke directly in the camera to Governor Phil Bredesen urging him to "sign" the bill. This is a very important bill and it looks as though it will become law regardless but the Governor's signature is very important. I want him to sign. Please keep calling his office and emailing letting him know you all support the bill and want him to "sign". Thank you all for your support. This new law WILL SAVE INNOCENT LIVES. I just wish it had not come so late for Ben & I.

For what its worth, yesterday I called Sen. Ramsey's office and talked to one of his staff people. Later I called Rep. Jon Lundberg (my rep) and talked to him personally. They both told me the same story: There is no way the Legislature is going to wrap up this session before late in June. They've not even come up with a budget yet. So it doesn't matter when the Governor got the bill, the 10 day period will expire well before this session of the Legislature is over. If its necessary to override a veto, it will be done before they go home from this session.

TEBISH, if it wasn't a 4 hour drive to get to Naifehs homeland, I would be down for that!

I'm not sure I'd have the stomach to eat in the same room with Naifeh... :screwy:

Got the boots, hat, and gun though. 12.gif

Well I recieved a personal e-mail from my Rep. Phillip Johnson today, much more than many legislators would do.

Dear Jon,

I appreciate your support. I have taken quite a tongue lashing from people opposed to the bills. I have had several that swear I have lost their votes of their friends over this one issue. I cannot understand their arguments. They seem to think there are no guns in restaurants and bars now. I believe law abiding citizens should be allowed to exercise their constitutional rights and freedoms. There are over 30 other states that have similar gun laws in place and there has not been one incident.
