Military Patriots - Our Oath.

In a previous thread, I mentioned that I believe that my oath of allegiance during the time I was sworn into the military, and my subsequent re-enlistments did not have an expiration date. I take seriously all oaths that I have made in my life, especially to "Support, Defend, and Protect the Constitution of the United States. These oaths, and the promises and covenants I have made to my wife and to God will NEVER be broken. To others, these are just so many words that are spoken in the course of their lives. To some, words are just that - words. A means to an end. Oaths and covenants are sacred, as is our Constitution. It is by the grace of God that our country was formed, and we are blessed by the many riches that can be afforded by our Heavenly Father. It's in the Constitution. The Declaration of Independence. The words of or fore bearers. The lives that were laid down to protect us and our children and grandchildren. I believe that we (veterans) should be the bulwark and the moral authority again in the country to stand up and speak out. Speak out against the dilution of our sacred rights.Against the corruption of our youth. Against the turning of what is good and right into something to be ashamed of. Against the use of the judiciary when special interest groups can not promote their corrupt agenda through legislation, and a straight up vote by the people. My Wife showed me a paper today that she printed off of the internet, with the thesis that if we fast and pray, and give food to those that mean to do us harm, all will be well. What a load of crap. She has never seen "true evil" at work. While my wife can stand on her own two feet, she take a pollyannaish view of world events. Take a stand. Don't be beguiled by words you want to hear, and hollow promises. Or we will surely have a differently legacy for our grandchildren.

-Through ranting now-.

Thanks for your service ... Fellow Vet here. I joined the reserve while a 17 year old high school junior, then active duty a few years later. I retired last year after 22 years active duty (and 6 reserve before that).

As a high school kid I took my oath seriously. I went through boot camp between my junior and senior years at school, and even missed my own high school gradation to attend AIT.

I'm proud of my service, and proud of those who also wear our nation's uniforms. Had a run-in once with a Marine recruiter who was giving me a hard time about being Army. The young Marine with him made a comment which has stuck with me for over 20 years: "We all salute the same flag."

Amen, brother.

Thank you for your service. You old salts should always share your wisdom and knowledge.

As a currently serving soldier, I see too many of our brethren forgetting those words. But they shall always ring true in my heart.

I took that oath very seriously when I spoke those words when I was 17 and will do it again here in the next few months. They are words to live your life by, and I always will.
