1911 Grip Safety

So as the title suggests I am having an issue with my grip safety.

The thing rattles with each step I take. What can I do to correct this?

It drives me nuts.

Reportedly the US Army mounted cavalry originally tied their grip safeties down with strips of rawhide, much to the chagrin of JMB. You could always do that, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Sorry, just a bit of useless gun trivia for you.

It rattles because it has lateral play,it has lateral play to allow it to move freely. Some competition shooters pin the grip safety because it does not fully engage with the type of grip they use.Seriously though, what brand do you have?,does it rattle more than others?.

Increasing spring tension sounds like a good idea.

It is a RIA Tactical. I havent had another to compare it to but it rattles enough to bother once I noticed it.

I know what it is... Im wondering how to increase the pressure.

You have to bend the sear spring leaf that pushes on the grip safety. When looking at the sear spring in the gun it is the one on the right.

Yeah. I figured it out once I opened her up. Not working so far. Ill try again later, heading to publix atm.

Me too, Leroy. I'm a trivia geek at heart and when you combine guns with trivia, you immediately have my interest. :)
