Presidential letters

hey everyone need some help on something, there is a story on my grandmothers side of the family that a member of her family sent a quilt to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and he ended up sending it back with a letter saying that it should stay in the family, currently the quilt is in storage at the tn state museum, but i was wondering if such a letter would have been archived at all by the government during that time period as the copy of the letter my family had was lost decades ago and it would be nice to get a copy if one still exists some where.

any information on where i might look or contact would be very helpful

If anyone is going to have it, it’ll be the state archives.  They’ve got some really cool’s stuff - and they’re genuinely helpful.

Because you said the quilt is in storage at the TN State Museum. The state museum and the state archives are next door to each other and work closely with one another.

I'd start with the museum though. If they have the quilt, they may also have the letter.

they do not, they didnt even know about it until i contacted them a couple of years ago about the quilt asking for a picture of it, the only people that i can safely say that had the letter is family members who had it/saw it before they passed away and before the letter was lost

How did the quilt originally get to the state museum?

donated by someone in my family, unfortunately the only person who remembers is my grandmother and even she said by the time it was donated the letter was lost

figured i would update this, I contacted the FDR archives and they pointed me where to try and look and so far I have found nothing, either the story/rumor is fake or it was a different president all together, considering my great great grandmother was born in 1900 who knows, but so far I am coming up empty handed.
