7 Reasons why I had a good day...

Since these are pretty much guns/outdoor related, I thought I would share...

1. Picked up an Emotion Mojo Angler sit-on kayak at a yard sale for $150. It's never been in the water - brand spankin' new (mustard color from the website I believe). I've been wanting one for a while for solo fishing trips - and for this price, I couldn't turn it down

2. Picked up a trolling motor at another yard sale, $15... ancient - but it works :) Shoudl be perfect for taking the kids out on the local neighborhood lake for a little fishing.

3. I'm coaching my son's 4-5yr Soccer team, and we won our 11am game and had a superb time despite the heat (85+) :D

4. Cleaned out the attic today, found my Spyderco Tri-angle Sharpmaker knife sharpening kit I haven't seen in probably 10 years :D

5. Also cleaning out the attic and found the following ammo:

-box of .380

-box of 12 ga. field load

-box of 20 ga. field load

-box and a bag of random .22 ammo

6. Also cleaning out the attic and found about $30 worth of ultralight lures - including a couple of Crickhoppers in varying colors :D

7. Mom and dad came over for dinner, and dad whips out my Beretta Airlight folder, saying he had lost knife and had found it in his dresser drawer (I haven't seen this in years either - now I know why). I promptly reclaimed it since he said it was too large for him to carry, and instead dug out a Buck triple blade folder, sharpened it up with the Spyderco kit, and he was happy with the swap :D

I still have about half a dozen boxes I need to go through that I am sure would add to the list, but that will have to wait until tomorrow - I'm beat.

Most of the yard sales I wind up have broken junk that people want me to pay Obama's bailout prices for the priviledge of taking their crap home. I've never had the pleasure of finding a new kayak. I hope you give those kids some great memories once you get the motor hooked up, DRM.

So you're gonna have the fastest fishing kayak on the lake weilding the sharpest knife to clean your catch that you shot with the world's most valuable ammo! :D

Congrats to your son in winning the game!

Sounds like a perfect day. :P

I actually picked up a 12.5' 3 seater canoe last spring that I've been taking the kids out in, and is what the motor will go on.

Unfortunately - the canoe's wide flat bottom makes for miserable paddling by myself, and even worse when I want to try and fish.

So the kayak is for me, and I hope to start hitting the Duck soon, and some smaller streams as well.

I like the dragonfly running point in that picture. That's one of the great things about small boats and fishing, you can reach places that most anglers never even think about fishing. Luck on the water.

Wanna know the secret to that?

Generally speaking - the nicer the house, the crappier the stuff (or the more they think their crap is worth).

The best stuff I generally find at houses that aren't the biggest or nicest. Especially if they have an old shed or barn or a musty full basement they use for storage.

Now that's not always the way it goes, but my experience has been that it works out that way.

As a matter of fact, I found a little 70cc chinese ATV for $200 I need to call about tomorrow and see if he still has it... I might just pick that up to add to the fleet :D

I hate you. :D

Most of the yard sales I go to are in west Knoxville, the nicer part of town. I sometimes find nice stuff, but like you say, want top dollar. The only times I've gotten lucky is with firearms and divorcees, apparently, they know how to price stuff to piss ex husbands off. :P I'm going to give some of the other yardsales you mentioned a try. I need a lot of canning jars and lids, as well as a second canner. My brother and I doubled the size of the garden at his house this year, so we are going to have our hands full come harvest.

Yeah, head away from neighborhoods and find people who have room on their property to accumulate random stuff for the last 20 years then feel the need to get rid of it :D

Not to mention it's a great excuse to get out and do some driving in the country on a nice day.

Is that the $250 Sam's CLub clearance special? I picked up one of those canoe kits as well and it's pretty hard to beat for what I paid. It's a little slow, but super stable...great for lazy blackwater floats w/ another person.

I actually picked it up off CraigsList - Canoe, 2 paddles, several tie down straps, the foam pads for loading it on top of the truck, a hitch mounted swivel carrier (like this) and a bag to put the carrier stuff and straps in... For $210 :D

OP, Sounds like a great day,

I was going through some boxes and found 16 boxes of 00 buck 12 ga. 3" .410 slugs and 3" #4 - 2 boxes of 300 weatherby and atleast 500 asorted pistol and rifle rounds.

1 of the 12 ga. 00 buck boxes said 1.96. oh and a box of 10 gauge steele shot.I dont have a 10 ga.

Don't forget to put #'s on the canoe once it is under motor power (or sail power for that matter in TN) also risk of BUI's comes along with the convenience:) 'tis why I always paddle my own canoe...lol

Seriously though great find for a kayak. Have one myself, but always thought a sit on top would be nice for fishing.

The only place the canoe will go with the motor on it will be the neighborhood private lake down the street, so I;m not gonna register it just for that.

Good deal DRM. Always thought it was kind of a ripoff to have to register a boat only for using a trolling motor...seems to me any kind of electric propulsion should have a waiver.

Would be nice to run across another kayak at a good price; need one for the new gf. Now the only option if we both go is my canoe.
