The discharge of FIREARMS within city boundaries is almost universally forbidden; I had not heard of a prohibition in discharging AIRGUNS (non-firearms). But sure enough, Knoxville is 'special' like that:

"Sec. 19-109. - Discharge of firearms, air guns, etc.

( b ) Discharge of air guns, spring guns, etc. It shall further be unlawful for any person to fire or discharge any air gun or air pistol, spring gun or spring pistol, or other device or firearm which is calculated or intended to propel or project a bullet, pellet, air or similar projectile, within the city."

I am not aware of this restriction extending to places outside the city limits. I would assume discharging an airgun in the county is fine. If there is no specific prohibition then - by default - it is allowed.

That's not to say some Karen won't call the Sheriff and report you for 'having a gun'.  But the sheriff will probably be uninterested once they arrive and realize you just have a BB gun or pellet gun.

Mt Juliet went a bit more, you can not release an arrow in side city limits.
