Best place to get a Sig P239

I'm in the market for a Sig P239, and would like to know where might be a good place to get a brand new one in Middle TN, from a price standpoint.

This will be my first gun purchase, so I must admit to being a novice on the best way to get a good deal. Would going to a gun show be the best? If so, is there a particular show that would be better (ie. RK Shows, or Bob Pope) Any recommendations for a brick and mortar gun shop?

Thanks!

If you don't mind the drive, I'd go down to Winchester to Hero Gear. Joe's got a wide selection of Sigs, including 239s. I think the RK show is better, but I wouldn't count on getting a deal at a gun show. The market is hot right now, so the dealers aren't haggling much.

If you are sure of what you want, I have found the internet to be the cheapest. In middle tn, the cheapest place to buy a firearm, if you are sure of what you want, would be Toliver's in Manchester Tn. There are many places to buy in Middle Tn. but you are looking for a place below retail prices, then head on down to Tolivers.

SigGrl and Patty - Thank you for the quick replies! I'll have to check them out.

Patty - Any recommendations for an internet dealer and a local dealer? I know the locals will charge a transfer fee, which could wipe out any savings. Although, this may just be an uneducated assumption on my part.

I use GunBroker, and Buds. And Tolivers is the cheapest and best for transfer's. Just be sure that you know what you are doing once you commit.

Is this "Toliver's pawn shop" or something like that?

If so, the one in Madison TN used to sell at 5 or 10% over their cost, my father bought a few there himself.

The Tolivers in Murfreesboro said they don't do that deal :)

How much is their transfer fee?

I'm going to second the trip to Hero Gear. If this is your first gun, then have someone take some time to show you how the gun functions, how to safely handle it, how to take it down and clean it. When we left yesterday they were staying open late to help a couple buy their first gun, and they were putting no pressure on them to leave. And if you have some trouble down the road, that internet company won't give a damn.

And welcome to gun ownership!

I'd suggest contacting the following:

Guns & Leather - Greenbrier, TN

The Outpost - Christiana, TN

Hero-Gear - Winchester, TN --- Most likely to have one in stock, but I'd call before making that drive.

I would also suggest looking online at Bud's Gun Shop. It's hard for many places to beat their prices. I've had great experiences with them. Sig Sauer Sig Arms SigArms Pistols

Sig makes several versions of the P239. You might take a look at their web site and Sigforum discussions to see which you might like. Sig is bad about not posting all their models on their web site and its sometimes difficult to tell exactly which model your looking at in stores. Also most replace the thin plastic grips with aftermarket wood, rubber or CT. Makes the pistol feel totally different. Some of the newer models come with night sites and short reset trigger. Be sure whether you want DA/SA or DAO as both are available. I have a two tone .40 cal DA/SA with hogue grip and love to shoot it. Very easy recoil unless you put some of the hotter double tap or buffalo bore rounds in it.
