Loktite on castle nuts on AR lowers...

Recommended Posts

Brothers n sisters...

My hands ain't as strong as they used ta be, and my aim with a center punch n hammer ain't real good now.  That said;

Has anybody used loktite on the castle nut to buffer tube connection to lock down the tube without staking it...?

Thanks in advance...

I’ve never staked or used Loctite on a castle nut but I live on the edge like that.

Same.  But I'm just carrying my ARs to the range and back too infrequently.  If I was still walking Allah's brown earth, something sturdy is called for.

I understand... I had one back off in the long ago.... I guess I'm just a bit apprehensive. It's the " Old Goat Worryin Syndrome"...

Ima guessing that if I wuz 30 years younger n a bit stronger, I couldn't worry either.

Thanks a bunch.

All of mine are not staked or lock tited-

I have not had one back off yet-

When I worked at the old Range USA we had 3 AR's that got frequent use and by frequent I mean daily and I did not stake any of those either-

Thanks again.

There are a few major companies that don't stake their receiver nuts. Keep an eye on it and keep shooting. If you want you could try one of the PWS ratcheting nuts but have heard mixed reviews on them. I have it on one rifle and no issues on the one I have.

Problem solved (for a fee).

Used one of these on the son's light weight uppers... Gonna keep a wrench n dead blow hammer in my AR toolkit.

Brother Leroy,

As I love riding a motorcycle, and find myself with spare time now, if you have a hammer and center punch, I’d be happy to come to you and give her a swing. If not, I can provide the hammer and punch as well.

ETA…looks like you found a superior solution.
