A friend of mine in Tullahoma found this in his field.  His land was used by the army in WWII training for combat.  He reckons it’s from an M1.  What do yall think?

Looks like an enbloc clip from an M1 Garand. I'm not sure why it would be loaded with empty cases, though. BTW, I'm in the market for a few enbloc clips, but probably not quite so rusty.

Definitely a Garand en bloc clip.  Are the rounds empty or loaded with something?  Maybe Blanks?

Yep, that's what it is. Could be they just put the empties back in as a way of policing up used brass. 🙄

I had told him that’s what I thought.

M1 clip with M1909 blanks.  The indented ring below the lip is a clear indication that it's a blank.

The whole middle TN area was used for massive war games from 1942-44.  https://www.williamsonherald.com/features/w_life/bringing-light-to-tennessee-s-forgotten-wwii-history-magill-introduces-maneuvers-docuseries/article_63e4be54-b081-11ee-8131-4b54b5dd558e.html
