Opinions of Vortex Viper rifle scope

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to replace the rifle scope on rifle with HEAVY recoil. I'm thinking of the Vortex Viper, either in 6 x 24 or 5 x 25.  Honestly, I don't do any shooting out beyond 400 yards, but the rifle is surely capable of hitting at three times that distance. My eyes are old and never were all that good.

I'm looking for three features.  The scope must have a 30mm tube; the mounting system on this rifle is unique and doesn't allow for other size tubes. I want clear glass with a sharp image, but with the compromise of staying well under $1000. And finally, the scope will have to withstand a good deal of recoil without shifting zero. I think that the Viper is probably the way to go within my budget, but I'm interested in hearing the opinions of those who own these scopes, or recommendations of similar scopes I should scope out. (Pun intended.)

Thanks, guys!

Notice 1st Focal Plane
A lot of folks that have never used one find out they don't like it after they buy it.
I have 1 of these on a 6 ARC, and the lower power version on a .223 SPR.

Cheaper place to buy it.

2nd Focal Plane

I don't have heavy recoiling rifles so I can't really speak to that part.

I'm testing a new Arken Optic scope now on a .22LR.
So far, it ain't looking promising.

I have two vipers, one on a 5.56 gas gun and another on a .308 bolt gun. both have been excellent and a good "budget" option.
