Poak... You do know the XR is available in the US... right?

Cool!

Wasn't aware of that at all. Last thing I read about it was in a cycle rag last summer. It got reviewed by a handful of guys that usually ride sport bikes, and they all loved it. The only cons they mentioned was 1) lack of cruising range and 2) it was only approved for the euro market (but I guess that's changed  )

EDIT: Just visited the HD site, seems like they're ramping up advertisement for 09.

As far as the approval for the euro market only... it was probably an emissions thing.

Lack of cruising range is due to that dinky little 3.5 gal tank. Its pretty tall too. A little taller than the 1200R. Its a nice bike. I rode one at a demo ride... but like i said when they came out with the VROD. 'It aint Harley.' On top of that... good luck finding an aftermarket exhaust for it. It wont accept regular sportster slipons\full exhaust.

They seem to be going for around 11k at most shops i've seen. WAY too much for a sportster IMO.

I concur about the VROD, but I don't think the XR is particularly "un-Harley". The XR750 had a VERY rich racing history.

...as far as price. I have yet to see a Harley priced at what I would think ISN'T "too much" :tough:

Nice lookin VTX there Fallguy! How ya like it?

After everything I've read about them, I finally tried one out the other day, a 2002 VTX 1800. Now, I ride a Yamaha Vstar 1100 Custom, and I have all the power I need. No trouble staying right on the bigger engined bikes. But I got on this 1800 and the train of thought went pretty much from "well, let's get this porker on the road and see how comfortable it rides" to "Oh Lord! Somebody shoot this thang!"

I'll get a picture of mine on here this coming week if the SUN will come out for a minute!

Thanks....I like it real well.

I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 750 before the VTX....nice bike, but being a "big boy" not as much room on it as I would have liked.

I added some 3.5" risers which helped some, but I still like set of apes or at least mini-apes on it so as to be able to lean back a little more. But I'm not much of a wrench to be honest. Can change the oil etc... but if there it isn't in the shop manual, would rather have experienced hands around...lol
