I've only had the P64 but have handled the PA63. I much prefer the P64 - once you change the springs and lower the DA trigger pull from 20lbs! That first shot can be a beast.

P-64 has a 24lb. trigger pull, most replace it with a 18lb. spring!

It is very accurate and a lot of folks carry them, dont buy any US made mags!

Thanks guys..... Yea joe thats where I saw it. Now I got to get someone to order it for me. These odd caliber guns are about the only ones you can find ammo for at a decent price.

Do you already have a Makarov? If not, you'd be a lot better off starting with the best of the 9x18s.

This is a great forum! One thing, 9x18 ammo is also scarce and getting exp. from what i read. Last week, i saw a 1000. round case for $239. + tax! I do know of a few people who started using their P-64 as their main carry piece, instead of a Glock 26/27, after the put in the 18 lb. spring!

Best wishes.

I had both a Makarov and then purhcased a PA-63 thinking it would be as good as my Mak. Boy was I wrong. The PA-63 was ridiculous to fire. The trigger pull, the way it felt in my hand, the whole exerience was bad. I ended up getting rid of it within the first month.

Now, the Makarov, I loved and wish I still had it.

The CZ82 is a great pistol. Very accurate, holds 13 with one up the spout. Trigger pulls are nice on the CZ. Also, it is a C&R weapon, mags are available as CZ83 .380.

suggestions. If you can get the police rather than military turn-in, the finish is in MUCH better shape and a good heavy black leather holster and extra magazine pouch. Heavy as in 9-10 ounce leather.

Trigger pull is kind of long, but very constant.

9X18 has a lot more penetration in the wet clay of my berm than I would have ever imagined. Tested some HP in water filled jugs and it made me realize that they probably are not that much better than std FMJ bullet.

Prices vary, but are better than 380 and one can find it in stock!

we have an original russian in right now....

My sister has one, I'm going to try to buy it off her. How much is a fair price for the Russian Makarov?
