⚠️ Safety Reminder for Buyers and Sellers ⚠️

This is an automatic reply meant to protect you as a buyer and a seller on TGO.

  • Use the Buyer/Seller Feedback feature to research who you are dealing with.   Please come back and leave feedback for each other after the transaction is complete.  Your experience will help others.

  • Never agree to use an electronic form of payment to buy or sell a gun!  None of the electronic payment services will protect you against fraud in a firearms transaction.  They all have terms of service FORBIDDING the use of their services to buy/sell guns.  DON'T DO IT.

  • Be very wary of anyone who insists on brokering a deal in private or outside of TGO.  Scammers almost always prefer to operate out of the public eye.

300 WM is a solid caliber but honestly with the cost vs performance it doesn't stack up today. Same ballistics as a 6.5 PRC and the PRC gas half the recoil and costs half as much to load. My question is what does the OP consider long range?

Great question, and still partial mystery to me as well. I’d like to learn to shoot 800-1000. I’ve never really tried more than 150-200. I have a buddy that has a 600 I can go practice at, but I’d like to try and hone that skill farther. Not afraid of caliber selection too much as I do have a reloading setup. Just want to make sure it’s capable, so that when I suck… I know it’s me!

IMO, it’s really hard to beat a Ruger American in 6.5 Creedmoor or a Savage 110 in same caliber.  Ammo is somewhat economical. The rifles are not stupid expensive. That way after a few month you decide your just not into it, you don’t have 5 grand in your stuff. I would spend 6-800 on a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. Spend your money on a scope.  Don’t over spend unnecessarily on a rifle. If your just starting, your just starting. The 6.5 Creedmoor round is good at distance 1000-1400 meters plus. Great game hunting round. Anywhere from a buck plus per round. Common round and easily found. Good luck with your new, tragically addictive hobby.
