really gotta wonder why someone would stick some bloody hair in their rifle though.

I'm guessing the rifle was used for a blow to the head...

No....this was definitely intentional.....they would have had to open the buttstock compartment and cram in a pretty good wad of hair into one of the compartments.

I got about 4 or 5 wads out and then the chunk dislodged and slide further down into the stock and I can't reach it now.

Maybe it's an enemy scalp.

I thought about that......but its blond hair and this is a postwar gun?

bring the scalp with you

i also have the worlds longest roach clip/hemostats. It will reach in and get it out no problem

That matte of hair and bone fragments was amazing if not a bit sickening. Thanks Mike for pulling it out with those super tongs, I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable shooting the rifle regularly, knowing all that was lodged in the stock.

Wow. If that rifle could talk...must have seen some hellacious action!

I initially thought that maybe your Garand was depolyed to the Pacific and carried by a Najavo code-talker who got the jump on a tojo and put some of said enemies "parts" into the butt of your rifle for good medicine. But since it's blond maybe somebody over in the European theater had the same idea about some Nazi.

Glad to hear that Mike was able to excise the haints from your boomstick!

that was some of the most disgusting crap I have ever seen, I thought my wife was gonna blow chunks when I yanked that mess out of the stock.

I can't even imagine why someone would stuff scalp and skull into the stock of the rifle.

i wish mine had some in it.

You should go on a Weds. That is when the racks are full and they don't restock until the next week.

Not always.. I was in AL for a golf outing today and stopped by CMP this morning. They restocked friday night. Lots of fresh goodies.

Congrats on tne M1's 70below

Like taking ears in Nam or something.

Gag me with a backhoe.

When I got my M1 home, I noticed the Stacking Swivel missing. Will CMP sell or send one?

Thanks,

Is there something wrong with my eyes or is that SA missing the rear sling swivel? If so, call CMP and they'll set it right. If not, pardon my nit-picking. :D

Those Garands looked like pretty good shooters TJ.

I did not see your target from the Springfield, was it as good as the HRA target I saw? I can't keep up with you. LOL My spreads were two or three times the size of yours.

I do look forward to shooting it again, I got better as the day wore on. I will leave the Mosin at home next time. I think I hate that rifle.

I have to turn my nefew on to this forum, I've taken him shooting alot in the past and he's more interested in shooting these days. He's also a WW2 buff since my dad, his granddad was a WW2 vet so yesterday he bought a Garand at the show along with 8 loaded clips. I also made him buy a manual for it. I know nothing about Garands but I can't wait to shoot his.

What are the requirements for a CMP purchase? I was eligible in Michigan, but I'm not sure now that I'm in Tennessee. I have a passport and I'm a member of a local gun club.

I have an FAL, but I'm not sure that I wouldn't rather have an M1.

You may want to call CMP. If you bought from them while in MI they may still ahve an active customer number for you.
