I'm wanting a 1911 in a bad way. Local I can go with a Rock island 1911 for $399 or a Springfield 1911 for $519. Does that springfield have $120 more in value? Thanks

I've heard that Rock Island makes a good 1911. I know Springfield does. I would go with the Springfield depending on what type it is.

Is the Springer new or used? Stainless or park'd?

Rock Island is good, may need to change the extractor.Springer is better and more resale value if you decide to get rid of it.

My RIA shoots awesome. If it was me and price is all that mattered I would go with the RIA and spend the other 120$ on ammo and holster. Either way is a win win in my book. Is the RIA standard or the tactical?

You can't go wrong with either. Welcome to your first of many, many 1911's (once you get it)

It's a disease I don't mind having

I just purchased a SA 1911 stainless a few months ago, my first 1911 and have fallen in love with it. No problems or complaints on my end.

Doesn't Para-Ordnance have a pretty good low-buck 1911 out now?

Para-Ordnance

GI Expert

MSRP: $599.00

I just got the RIA GI, and would recommend it to anybody, But with that being said The reason I chose the RIA is because I couldnt find a springer that wasnt way over priced.

Thanks Kano, great links!

I'm liking the Para a lot! Huge plus for it being US manufactured.

Now if only they would release it in stainless... I generally prefer black guns, but for a 1911, I just NEED it to be stainless.

It's hard to get any 1911 for under 500. I'm in the market too for one. Just not willing to give over 400.

I got a used Springfield 1911 today. I had one before and sold it to consolidate ammo.

I suppose I had regrets cause I jumped on this one. It's the twin of the other one I had except this one has a case.
