I got an H&K SL8-6 not long ago from a member here. I did some research on what parts to get to make a "Poor man's" G36, I was going to send it to Tommy Built but he's not accepting any work. So I searched around and found some parts to get started with, just need a couple of more parts and send the SL8-6  Bolt out to be modified to a G36 Bolt to be able to use P-Mags and the H&K dbl. Stack Mags along with a G36 MagWell, a orginal G36 Bolt is $400+ and modify the original SL8-6 $100 so I'll go that route. Got the Stock in and the HDPS Stock Block also got a Tommy Built G36 Lower that takes AR 15 Triggers, I went with a Geissele SD-E Flat Trigger. Just got done fitting the Lower, need to work on the Stock Block a little and it will be good to go, then make sure that the Geissele Hammer clears everything inside if not then a little fitting will take care of that. Here's some of the parts, I'll post as I go along. Thanks for looking.20240618_111309.thumb.jpg.bcf85f999d7990e74484eaa604285d41.jpg20240620_144946.jpg.dd9f8ee5db44753b1a96cfaa87049a02.jpg20240620_145044.jpg.8cffe306e0cedbb9ce34148ffd92fa8a.jpg20240620_145105.jpg.cf051665ca3ac4afff572971a906581c.jpg20240620_145139.jpg.9576b8f620c87226957d6afa94b88cff.jpg

Yeah, I never was a fan of thumb hole stocks never could get my grip to feel right when shooting them.

I've got some more parts coming tomorrow. They should be enough to start fitting everything up, and if all goes well I'll be able to test it with the H&K SL8-6 Mags. Then consecrate on getting the bolt modified to a G36 Bolt and get that Tommy Built G36 MagWell Conversion for using P-Mags, and the G36 Mags.

Got a few more smaller parts in today. Did some fitting on the Tommy Built AR Lower assembly, G36 Stock, and a few other parts. I got it mocked up just need to clean it up where I had to do a little fitting, but so far it's coming along.

Got most of it done, not sure about the stock I may change it out to another style. Everything is put back together to check out the functionality and it's great, that Geissele SD-E Flat Trigger makes a world of difference in the pull, right around 4#. The Extended Bolt hold open functions as it should now all that is left is to get the SL8-6 Bolt modified to the G36 Bolt, get the Tommy Built AR MagWell to be able to run the double stack mags, and a low profile rail and it's done. More pictures to follow.

Well I ran into a little snafu, I got all the parts in and started to fit them and then noticed that the SL8-6 reciever has a indentation on one side that needs to be cut out and flipped around(see pictures) wicih isn't difficult to do but requires that part to be reattached so I decided to just leave it as is.20240905_093512.jpg.08be399bb5e7c6b7a78d5e8d6e7deceb.jpg20240905_105623.thumb.jpg.d5d97e535f843bcf2c20cfe60cf1635c.jpgbut I did get a few other parts fit and installed. A ambi mag release, and a orginal Swiss Made B&T G36 Aluminum Handguard, and a MagPul Bipod.20241016_193556.thumb.jpg.93dd627cc2b34f755dd43ba1ac089228.jpgI did find a company that makes a G36 Upper Reciever, they can't mark it HK but it is an exact copy, so I placed my name on the order list and hopefully it will be done by the endd of the month. I also have a G36 Parts Kit on order that includes everything except the receiver, so when I get all that in then I'll start the G36 build. Here's a picture of the SL8-6 with the new handguard I'm waiting for one more part a Tommy Built low profile rail then figure out what type of scope to put on it thinking ACOG, or a Meprolight, any way here it is minus the low profile rail.20241016_193547.thumb.jpg.cf65b179f646981747e071e3c965490c.jpg

Thanks I can't wait to get the other upper and G36 parts kit in to build the other one. Hopefully that low profile rail will be in soon so I can call that one done.
