Permitless vs Constitutional carry?

I know that there's a difference between the two, but I get confused. What are the exact differences between Tennessee's Permitless carry and true Constitutional carry?

Probably as vast a difference between what they say is the Constitution and the true Constitution.

I have the same issue. I've been carrying with a permit from about 3 months after my 21st birthday. Everyone I know thinks I'm an expert on the laws. Problem is, I carry regardless of the law for the most part. I usually tell people I don't carry if I'm going to have a drink and I don't carry if I'm in court. If someone tries to kill you or you're people, shoot them. Tha last thing I tell them is to ask someone that actually knows the laws.

I think the general gist of it in this state is that carrying a firearm in public is in fact, illegal.  We are allowed to carry only because the legislature over many years has defined a dizzying array of exceptions to the rule.  Examples being handgun carry permits, “permitless carry”, “guns in cars”, and all the other subtle nuances they’ve spun up.

In a true constitutional scenario, it would not be illegal to publicly carry a firearm in the first place.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

This is pretty much the sum of it. Is the default position of the law that it is legal or illegal to carry a firearm? In TN it is illegal.

So I guess it's  a work around because of that "intent to go armed" line in our State Constitution. Ok, I get it.

I really wish they would finally change that. 🙄

I favor having a permit.  Reciprocity and  respect when dealing with LEO as it at least shows some minimal training.  It is also comes with more privilege in TN, being permitted to carry in parks, be it local or national.  Also some jobs may allow carry with pemit.  Regardless of your choice, one must familiarize yourself with the laws regarding deadly force.  It doesn't do you much good winning a gunfight only to spend 20 yrs in jail as well as spending a hundred plus thousands of dollars in your defense.
