Night Sighs: Plain or Tritium rear?

I plan on getting some Warren Tactical sights for my M&P 9 and was wondering which rear I should pair with the tritium front. Do you find that the dot on the rear sight is distracting or that the lack of a rear dot in low light makes sight alignment more difficult?

Go with the big dot setup. IMHO it is much better than just night sights.

Based on the title of the thread I wasn't sure if I wanted to post here. I don't have warren tactical sights, but I do like having the rear sights to help align the front sight.

I have Tritium 3 dot on my Kimber,I like them,when I open my bureau at night it looks like a set of eyes staring back.

All you need is the front sight lit up.. in the middle of the dark.. the rear nights will help obscure the front sight.. go with just the front, you only need to know where the muzzle is. Practice drawing, do it a lot, with your eyes closed as well.. learn by feel where the pistol is pointing, in time.. it will come naturally to you.

I would recommend green front and yellow rear. The green dot will be the brightest and the yellow dots will allow you to quickly recognize from your peripheral vision if the gun is canted to the left or right of the green dot.

You want to concentrate on the front site to the target and use your peripheral vision to adjust the rear sight to prevent canting the gun left or right of center.

Yep - green front and yellow rear on my G23. Put all green on my G32, and I have discovered the green/yellow combo is much better for me. BTW - Ameriglo's are my preference

I love my trijcon front and rear. Just front may work for point blank in the dark but that's not the only situation you'll use them.

Everyone still liking their Warren Tacticals? I had a chance to shoot an M&P 9 and an M&P Pro one with dot on dot and the other with two yellows on the rear and one green up front. I loved those sights AND the pistol with the trigger upgrade. WOW! I'm just looking for more information on the Warren Tacticals and how they hold up. I think I read a post elsewhere by Deerslayer(?) that the Sevigny sights will rust and need to be kept oiled. Didn't know if this problem has been fixed or not. Thanks!

I've got Truglo TFO sights on my XD-9....I love em' Not sure if you have looked at them, but they are great.

Have the Warren Tactical on my M&P45. No rusting or trouble at all either.

Rear dot is pretty much non-existent / unobtrusive during the day... eye picks up the front dot without any trouble at all. But the rear dot is just noticeable enough at night to "stack them". As mentioned, the brightness of the rear tritium vial (yellow) is subdued compared to the front dot (bright green).

IMO, these are the best sights... and best night sights... I've ever used on a handgun.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I have plain black rears on every gun that I may carry. I find that rear dots, tritium or otherwise, are just a distraction.

You should seriously take a look at the WT 2-dot's, if you haven't, and then make a decision. The rear vial is seriously so small/unobtrusive that it practically disappears. When you're focused on the front dot, in the day, you do NOT notice it at all. But at night, it gives off that soft yellow glow to stack under the bright green dot. The simplicity of the design. It really is the best setup I've used.
