Tennessee Fails to Honor the 2nd Amendment

Recommended Posts

That was an interesting read. It never fails to amaze me that the Constitution - which everyone in elected gov't swears to defend & uphold - really just gets treated like any other piece of paper when those with power don't like what it says.

They ignore it and violate it and someone has to get arrested & then fight thru the courts to finally get it fixed. But even then, we have SCOTUS decisions that should immediately invalidate the bad laws on our books yet they remain. They have a word for this - dictatorship. That's not comforting.

Thanks for bringing these issues to our attention. It's depressing but important.

It's no wonder to me that " TN does not honor the Second Amendment "... They have not since Post Civil War Reconstruction... Polititians do not like to cede power to the " Delightful Rustics " who vote n work for a living.  TN does, however, do a pretty good job of letting us " Rustics " go armed...

“In Andrews v. State, the Tennessee Supreme Court likewise held that a statute that forbade openly carrying a pistol “publicly or privately, without regard to time or place, or circumstances,” 50 Tenn., at 187 (1871), violated the state constitutional provision (which the court equated with the Second Amendment). That was so even though the statute did not restrict the carrying of long guns.” - District of Columbia et al. v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570, 629 (2008)
