Middle Tennsseans, where are you banking?

I have several accounts with Suntrust. They're starting this 14.00/mo BS fee on our personal checking account...which might have me in the market for a new bank if it shows up next month

Yea, I know that $14/mo of which you speak. Have you talked with a bank manager? If you don't tell them to stop it, it will show up next month. Also, make them refund any past charges to you.

Just don't go in there waving your gun around... that makes things a little less friendly!

I do business with quite a few banks - both personally and for my clients. At one time or another over the last 15 years I've done business with pretty much every major bank in the Nashville metro area.

IMHO - across the board, they are all about the same as far as service, screw-ups, etc.

I've been using First TN personally for almost 20 years now I guess, and Suntrust for another personal account for about the last 7 or so. Been happy with both.

I do think however that credit unions are the best choice overall, especially if you can get to know the people IN the local branch. Online banking is a nice convenience, but there is NOTHING that gets real problems solved faster than sitting down in a local branch.

A few years back someone hacked my PayPal account and grabbed about $1600 cash out of my First TN account. I filed complaints with PayPal who was of little help in actually getting my money back in a timely manner. However - a quick trip to the local First TN branch and the branch manager had my money back to me in less than 1.5 days time - and they simply did not have to work that fast to get the cash back in my account.

I bank @ the Bank of Nashville the service is great they make it a point to know each of their customers by name and there is never a wait when you go in. Sumner bank and Trust is also a great bank Mike Cook the banks Pres. is a really good guy and runs a god bank.
