A couple of decent reads. This might be a repost, I dunno. I think most modern survival guides miss the point. Snaring rabbits and having a knife with a compass on the handle (while both are pretty cool) won't help if your unemployed in a strange city and can't prove you have a high school diploma:

Financial slant, recent. I think they are finally getting the idea that a recovery is not likely anytime soon. Really funny that "they" have steadily upped the "cash on hand" needed from 3 months to 6 months, and now in this article, to a full year.

My favorite is still the SAS Survival Handbook, I think a recently updated version is out. It is the most complete survival book I have read, and I would take that and my Petersen's Edible Wild Plants Guide if I could only have a couple of books
