AR10 Need VS Want{RUGER SFAR} Joined The Crowd

So-How worried should a person be about the ability to purchase any type of semi-auto in the foreseeable future-

I would like an AR10 .308 but purchasing one now would be a look into the future-

I really don't have a need for something in this range considering I already have a nice Glenfield 30AS in 30-30-

What does the collective have to pontificate on this subject-

Inquiring minds want to know-well it's me actually-

I have taken the position over the past few years that if I think I might want it or need it in the future, I get it as soon as possible without paying a premium due to demand.  I figure, if I end up not wanting it or needing it, I can sell it (though this may get more difficult due to the increasing BS).  Prices probably won't go down in the future especially with inflation and even if I take a little hit selling it, it was worth it.

I believe we should all take this position with things like parts, magazines and other accessories as well.  People often forget about what it takes to keep something running after they purchase it.

I agree 100%-

I have enough parts to keep my AR15's going for some time-

But my Wife say's to go ahead and get it if I want-so there is that-

I may just buy one just so I put my anxiety to bed-

I guess a .308 is almost a perfect caliber for most any use up to including medium game hunting-

I have a Saiga in .308 as well as a FN FNAR in .308.   Nice to have around.

I think a lot is going to depend on what happens in November. If Joe gets another term, gun sales are going to skyrocket as will prices. If you want one, now may be the best time to do so. 

But if you buy also consider going ahead and buying extra mags, ammo and accessories as they will also be going up if Joe wins.

Yup-went ahead and ordered a Ruger SFAR in .308-

I also suggest that you buy ammo in bulk to save money. But be aware that right now most of the good Mil-surp stuff has dried up. If you do find some, make sure the headstamp bears the NATO cross on it. There's been some real garbage imported in the last few years including some fake Chinese junk bearing false headstamps. Do your research.

I reload all my ammo that I can-

The trick is to find enough casings to start out-

I already load for .300BO  and 30-30 so I have quite a lot of .308 bullets-

The 308 is a good all-around caliber. I purchased an AR 15 last year. I did not practically like the 556/223 caliber as I carried one in Vietnam. Still not much on that caliber however I just decided to purchase my Springfield Armory Saint because I still can. I went to Outpost Armory, in Murfreesboro, after a S W AR, but the sales guy convinced me to purchase the Saint. The all metal rifle along with metal sights appealed to me even though it weighs a tad bit more. I have always favored metal guns. Go for it if you think you want it. I did.

I will say I did have a Ruger Ranch Hand Gen II, in 223/556, and have really enjoyed plinking with it. The gen II's are a little more accurate than the I's were. I like mine.

OK, I have to ask the dumb question. Have you used the FTX in 300BO loads? FTX is what I run in my 30-30. The 300 likes heavier bullets and sub-sonic loads but it's fun with lighter bullets.

No FTX but I sure do use the SST in 125 and 110gr-

Another bullet I found to work exceptionally well in .300bo is the Speer TNT in 125gr-

I use 160gr FTX in my .300BO, good results.

Enforcer, 12.0gn. out of a 10.5", going to do some testing in my new 7" in two weeks, will share results with you.

If people bought a gun every time that notion crept into their minds....well, I guess some do.

But, you'll be fine.  Let your desires and your budget guide you, not the political situation.  We seem to be in a nice area of both sides want to argue about it rather than push the issue one way or the other.

Picked up my Ruger SFAR from Range USA-only took 6 days from the day I ordered it-

It is externally almost the exact same size as my AR15's-

Quite something how they are chambering a .308 in a small frame lower receiver-

So far I quite like it-will have to shoot next week-

How are you liking the FNAR?   I was surprised at how soft shooting and accurate mine was.
