Thought it was interesting that wife this time wants to go, she's the one who looked it up. Guess she's ready now to find her a handgun this coming Sunday.

How do these Smyrna shows compare to the Bill Goodman ones at the fairgrounds?

Hopefully Smyrna has more of the whole guns thing and less of the knives, swords, Ukranian mail order brides, refrigerators that Goodman seems to have.

Smyrna is a bit better, IMHO.

The last one I went to was extremely crowded. I eventually left b/c I was having a hard time moving around and getting pretty frustrated. Some people may mind that atmosphere though.

And it was like 100 degrees in there as well. But the variety is a lot better at the Smyrna show.

But it was crowded as a mo fo!

Sunday was a whole lot less crowded than the Saturday was

Anything to the notion that sellers are more willing to haggle and cut a deal on Sunday since it's getting close to closing time?

Not that I could tell, of course I probably didn't do myself any favors by spending all my money on Saturday :-\

It makes sense, especially for the dealers that drove in from a good distance.

A lot of the guys there though come every month, so if they don't sell it now, they'll sell it next month. With the exception of some of the good local shops, the vendors at the Gun Show's are probably thinking if you don't buy it, someone else will, so why try to bargain with anyone. Instead of CarMax it's GunMax...

Especially with the rise in gun sales, they hope some dude new to guns who's buying b/c of the rush hasn't done their research and could sell it to them for way over MSRP.

It's called supply and demand. Late last year I decided I wanted a pocket 380. Nobody had anything so I ordered two. The P3AT and the LCP. I figured I would keep the one I liked and sell the other. They both came in about the same time, almost 3 weeks later. After shooting 3 clips in each of CCI blazer and my handloads the LCP lost. It had 2 FTF's in each clip. The P3AT was flawless. So with that I decided to part with the LCP.

I paid 299+tax+tics for the P3AT and 329+tax+tics for the LCP.

I the took the LCP with me to the show in nashville (can't remember which one) and sold it to a vendor for $370. He probably resold it for over 400. It sure is crazy times right now. Hot items are selling way over msrp and if you want it.. you'll either pay the piper or wait.

It sucks to pay too much. But hey.. We all do it at one point or another and the vendors count on it. It doesn't matter if you do the research or not. It's the "want" factor.

I have been to nearly every show the last two/three months looking for a specific item. I did finally see one.. but there was no way in hell I was paying the price. I want one.. but not that bad. I can wait.

Cover your wallet folks.. it's only going to get worse!

I sold 1000 rds of Winchester 9mm to a guy about a month ago for $225. Now I could have gotten prob $350 or so on Gunbroker.com.

I'm still looking for a good deal on 9mm and 30-30, maybe even some more 7.62x39mm. Then it'll be whatever the wife decides to get.

Anyone gonna have a table setup? I have a few things I would like to get rid of to make room for new items.

Well wife came away happy. Guys at Dodson & Assoc were real helpful and actually turned away business. Wife is handicapped (md), doesn't have a lot of strength in her hands and such and couldn't rack a auto (not anything they had), so the 9's were out. They took us to another vendor for her to look at revolvers but she wasn't sold on the 38 spl they had and asked to look at a Bersa 380 and discovered she could rack it without any much trouble so she bought it. I ended up with a duty holster and a conceal carry in the pants holster for my S&W 5946. Now the hunt is on for extra mags for her Bersa 380 and ammo. Guess I'll also look for extra 15rd mags for my 5946.

Bersa mags can be difficult to find. Please get aquainted with some fine folks at Bersa Talk :: Bersa Talk ::

I bought for DA BOSS, a Bersa 380, years ago (model 383, wood grips). Sweet shooter. Bersa is an under-rated quality firearm, IMHO.

I hope your wife enjoys shooting it and I pray she never has to use it...

so don't pi$$ her off!!:D

Very low turn out for this show.

I did get to see a few TGO faces, always a pleasure.

Also, I grabbed onto that new Glock with the rough texture...I dig it, alot.

I don't like the stupid "fishscale" slide serrations on it, but I can live with that. This new Glock really does away with the need to stipple.

I did notice that a few vendors were preemptively discounting some of their prices on Sunday. Signs were up on a couple of tables announcing that handguns were $25 off of the listed price, etc. A few tables had prices that were actually within reason of what you see at gun shops instead of having the typical gun show inflation.
