When I got certified for ASP, it did not require recert. BUT, when getting cert for OC Spray, once a year, you had to get sprayed. Their logic is they want you to know what it feels like. My response was and still is, I'll never forget the barfing, burning and such. Don't know if it's a local/state requirement for OC cert. But getting hit with a baton to me is also hard to forget unless you are drugged or just numb... lol... 😉
Still got my orig night stick and asp baton.

That's crazy to do it yearly. I had to get sprayed 4 times, not counting the exposures in the fields. I do think people who carry should get it at least once to know how they react and understand you can still fight or shoot.

I purchased this tire thumper and small felling axe in this color to match the colors on my old side by side. They were usually with me on the trails or under the rear floor mats in my Ram, over the rear floor storage compartments that carried matching color ratchet straps, portable air pump, tow straps, tire plugs and tool bag roll. I could always justify having them with me.

I also have a pretty hefty walking stick with a retention strap that I purchased to use when I had jury duty in downtown Memphis. Never a problem with security or the court during the period I served.
