For me personally, I don't need a laser for outside in the daylight, so red would do for me. Green lasers are also known to be more complicated and less durable, so over time they tend to fail more often on firearms. So, a reputable red dot is just the smartest choice for me. 

You're talking about laser pointers, not dot optics.

The Optics Planet article was definitely about optics, not pointers. It has some good info in there and it's a quick read.
