Importance of sweat guard on iwb holsters?

Recommended Posts

I got my hcp a couple days ago, and just took a 30min walk to give my holster/position a good test. It was only 72 or so outside, but i noticed a little sweat on my gun when i got back. The holster I am using has no sweat guard, and is carried around 1:00 position. I'm sure the problem will get worse as temps climb.

Is this going to cause any probs with my Glock's function or finish? Guess i'm mostly concerned about sweat getting between the slide and the frame. Not as concerned about the finish, but would like to maintain it for as long as i can.

Thanks :hyper:

You have chosen perfection. A little sweat will not hurt perfection because perfection is the best the is. Do not ask silly questions when it comes to glock perfection or you will be

J/k.

Give it a wipe down at the end of the day & it will be fine.

Sweat guard has more to do with comfort for me. Finish on my XD pretty much like Glock's, not worried about that, just that gun digs without leather tween it and my bod (I don't wear undershirts).

Yeah. I can't deal with undershirts. I can see how it would be more comfortable. Mine is fine as it is for walking and sitting, but i do get a jab getting into the car quite a bit. Most of them look like they would be hot. Guess i will just have to try one for myself sometime :)

I carry a fullsize 1911 IWB, in a Kramer holster. It has a small guard at the top. I like it because it keeps the safety from digging into my side. As far as keeping sweat off of the gun. Don't carry a blue gun and wipe it down, should have no issues at all.

I borrowed a friend's Blade Tech to try out on my Glock 26 for a couple of days, and liked the sweat barrier at the top. It was a Kydex, but more expensive than the ones at A Holster. Anyone know if A Holster makes one similar to the Blade Tech, for IWB carry, and if so, the price range? Reports greatly appreciated... especially pics with a Glock 26 in one.

Why do they call it common sense, when it's so uncommon? TN Sen. Fred Thompson
