Knoxville area folks: if you don't make the ET shoot or Expo fun show this Saturday there is a massive gun auction at Powell Auction & Realty!

According to this list there's about 360 guns on the block.

I've been to one of these before but not on this scale. It's interesting if you can figure out what's going on.

I've been to several of the Powell Auctions and the guns usually go for way more than they are worth.

Well, things are worth what someone will pay, eh?

One has to wonder why you keep returning if that is the case?

Rare is the live auction that doesn't yield some bargain. Seldom seems to be a bargain in my area of interest however. I'd have to generally agree with the assessment that guns frequently (not always) sell for more than their value, i.e. used guns going for over MSRP when one can still order the same model, good condition selling for value of Excellent condition, etc. I'm an optimist, I go on the chance something I want might slip through cheap.

Why the heck does Powell always have these on the same weekend as the gun show? Seems like he'd get more buyers if he put them on an off weekend.

IIRC, the actual auction of the firearms starts at 2pm. Plenty of time to stand in line then wander the packed aisles at the gunshow, have a gunshow hotdog, spend some quality time on the throne and still make the start of the auction!

And ya know, when theres this many firearms, surely something will slip thru the cracks....

And I'm STILL waiting on my SPUDS coupon for the auction........

I promised the family we would go run the boat a bit and catch a few fish.Im going to have to start early to make it to knoxville by 2.

Are these auctions cash and carry or credit or do they contact your bank for a credit limit.
