Optic for Kframe 617 revolver

Anyone ever done this put a red dot on a 22LR 617 S&W I have one and have been looking at doing it and don’t know if it’s a good idea or not and am having a hard time finding a sight mount?

I've seen photos of optics mounted on S&W revolvers but I don't know who makes the mounts.  Taurus seems to be the only revolver maker seriously looking at optics-ready revolvers (they offer two models that will accept Holosuns).

Assuming your 617 is a later model the top strap should be drilled and tapped. If that's the case then there are several options out there for a mount. You remove the rear sight assembly and install the mount in its place.

The third review said it fit the owners 617.  Might want to ask the manufacturer to make sure.

As to mounting a "optic" on a revolver......meh.....unless you are in competition,.  Even then consider what holster would fit it first.
