Most of the issues on this gun have already been pointed out.  Just to add, the 6" barrel isn't near as popular as a 4". That will affect price some. However, its a desirable pinned and recessed model with honest wear. I'd put it in the $700-800 range.

And this is why I asked here. At least you all tell me why you value it at whatever price. On gunbroker you get no rhyme or reason as to why.

Be sure to look at completed auctions when comparing prices on Gunbroker. Otherwise, you are just seeing somebody's wild dream if you are looking at starting bids that never will be made. Also consider fees, shipping, ffl transfers, ect.

I was looking at those. But some were selling for more and some for less.

New sellers also won’t command the prices established sellers with good feedback will realize.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I do collect pinned and recessed Smiths, so here are my thoughts on the subject:

The general rule with Smith and Wesson revolvers is that the shorter the barrel, the more desirable the gun. In the case of yours, the 6" barrel is going to be worth less than one with a 4" barrel which is worth less than one with a 2 1/2" barrel in equal condition.

Rubber grips, derisively called Goodyear's by collectors are looked down upon, although they generally make the gun more comfortable to shoot. I would bet money that the OP's gun probably came originally with factory target stocks which are now selling for north of $100. 

Finish condition also has a large bearing on value and the holster wear on the OP's gun further moves it from collector to shooter status. If I was looking at buying that gun, I would expect to pay no more than $650, but I have a few .357 S&W's and don't really need another shooter. Someone that just has to have it might pay more, but I am not real sure of what the market is like for used P&R Smiths here in Tennessee as I just moved here a year ago and I haven't seen any for sale locally.

I bought a pretty decent 4" 19-3 a few years ago for $500 that is in much better cosmetic condition than the OP's, but prices have gone up since then, so that is how I came up with the price I arrived at.

Part of the problem is that you have a bunch of rich guys who have decided that nice classic guns are an "investment". The last few years have seen prices skyrocket on good older guns. This in turn has made the entire used gun market go up. What was a $500 gun just a year or so ago is suddenly selling for $800 or more.

Yeah Gun Broker is all over the place with prices. I have gotten some good deals there but everything I have bought off of Gun Broker I sent a message to the seller and bought all of them directly so I wouldn't have to pay sales tax. They usually didn't mind doing that. The pic's you posted, I'd be a buyer for around $500-$550 for that one. I've collected S&W Revolvers for the past three years, before that I tried to read up on them to get a better understanding. Many things will determine the price of them, condition, orginal boxes, mod. type, grips, ect... Like others said you can start high and go from there.
