Springfield EMP or Para Hawg 9

TN9mm

Recommended Posts

Saving for a compact 1911 in 9mm. This will be my EDC I searched the old threads read what was there but am looking for more real world advice on this one. Got some time bc of saving $$ really want to make the right choice here. Other suggestions welcome, I am leaning to these 2 options probably leaning a bit more to the EMP right now. More than likely gonna go NIB unless I stumble across just the right deal. Thoughts?

The EMP is a better gun in 9mm than the Para in my opinion... and I own 4 Para pistols, so I do like the brand. Another choice I'd look at in a similar price range is the Kimber CDP 9mm.

I hope you have luck finding either in stock.... I would choose the EMP over all personally.

Based on my personal experience and that of some others, I'd have to go with the EMP. The Para would be pretty far down the list.

Personally, I would attemp to find a used, LNIB EMP, if the savings make it worth while. Right now, finding a NIB or LNIB may not be all that easy.

Happy Hunting.

I originally got my wife a pre-owned EMP that looked new. I couldn't understand given the great reports on them why someone traded it in. Well, even after a trip home to the factory, we never got it to run right or stop making head shots with the brass. We ended up trading it for a new Para PDA.

It had some teething problems until a few hundred rounds were through it and then it settled down and is a great little pistol. I gotta think the EMP being used probably had a fair amount of rounds through it before we got it too.

Both are great guns. I've heard the Para Hawg have some issues with feeding. I was in the market for one as well and almost got the Para.

Another gun to consider is the Kimber Ultra or Pro Aegis II. Those are supposed to be great guns. I have a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II in .45 and love it, not one issue.

I think you need to put them side by side, look at features vs. price and then decide what is best.

BTW, if you are looking for a compact or "Ultra" sized 9mm 1911, I thought I would mention that we have the following in stock, and ready for you to fondle.

Para PDA 9mm

SA EMP 9mm

STI 9mm

Kimber Aegis 9mm

TN9mm - I know it's about an hour and a half drive to Winchester, but I would definately recommend going to Hero-Gear and looking at those guns side by side. You may be leaning towards one or the other, but once you hold/handle it you may change your mind. It's all about what "feels" right in your hand.

Thanks for all the answers so far, the drive is no problem at all when I can get what I want. I'll be making that trip soon. I've held them both and I think that is why I'm leaning toward the EMP, I was fairly confident in that. But I respect the wealth of knowledge out there on this forum, and when talking about this type of $$ I don't want to step in it.

The functional reliability is really what I am hopeing to verify, along with just general opinions on what I'm looking for.

Thanks a lot guys, keep em coming.
