Question:denied military service on two counts

Just a question for al those who know and/or veterans. I am currently 24 and married, however when i was 18 i attempted to join the national guard, (smyrna unit) and they said i was unable to serve because of

1) My vision is to bad, the gubment paid for me a cornea specialist who said i have an eye disease call cornetaconus (google it and you will find out) ANYWAY, my vision is not correctable by glasses (i.e. no Birth Control govt issue glasses.

2)Blood pressure to high... i know, im to young for this, it runs in my family real bad. Literally they tried to take my blood pressure like 50 times in a dark room so it wouldnt spike up with no luck.

Well my question is now, IF somehow a draft were reinstated, would I be allowed to serve? I would love to go fight if they called my number, however, will my number even be in the drawing?

I would say that it really depends on the wording and conditions of a draft if it is ever reinstated.

Your health is considered too high risk to allow you to enlist. Your have a congenital corneal defect that cannot be corrected short of a corneal transplant, and you're hypertensive. Which BTW, I hope you have gotten it treated and have it under control.

You pretty much have to be in prime health to get into the military. Though what happens after you get in is a whole nother story.

Well, not exactly. You can get waivers for just about everything. I certainly was not in prime health when I enlisted. If you can meet height/weight, pass a vision, hearing, and blood test, as well as the other litany of retarded things they make you do at MEPS (duck walk and bend over and spread em come to mind ) you generally make it in.

oh well thanks for the input guys. I guess I will have to wait till those damn terrorists try to kick in the door of my home in the middle of tennessee, then i will get my chance. ( Which I know is a long shot but, just seems to get closer every day that Obama is in office. i.e. gitmo detainees.)

Not much of a chance with those medical problems. If I remember the term it was 4F when you could not pass the physical.

Yeah, definitely a long shot. Not to mention the fact that if you were to be drafted at the age of 24, it would mean the US was in a serious world of hurt. They would go for the 18-20yr olds first.

On top of that even if you did get in you probably wouldn't pass BCT. Things like BRM come to mind as possible disqualifiers.

Standards and waivers are not static. They change according to enlistment goals being met. Unfortunately for you, the economy is driving numerous "healthy" young'ns into the recruitment offices.

i tried to join the army back in october or november and i was turned down for being 2 points over on their weight qualification. im 6'4" was about 280 and when they measured my bicep it was around 21" neck 20" and i cant remember waist but i wear 44x34 so it should be somewhere around there. im 21 and wrestled all through highschool and am a little overweight now but im in pretty good shape and often run between 2-3 miles a night about 4 nights a week so they must not be too hard up for soliders. i got a 79 on my testing and he told me that was actually good.

They let some big guys in the Army. When I went in we had two guys that were easily 40 lbs over their max. They lost every shred of it.

You need to get your recruiter to file a weight waiver for you.

Back in the 60's, before my dad met my mom, he tried to join the ARMY. He was denied because of his vision. Fast forward a few years, he is married, and I just was born and Vietnam is in full swing. He went down to the draft board to update his status (married with child) and the lady at the desk recognizes his name. His draft notice had just gone out. Seems they didn't need him before, but any blind bat can take point.

Anyway, they pulled his notice and he didn't have to go.
