RACOON IN MY GARDEN

Just got the stinking plants in the ground this week, and the racoons are already licking their chops. Anybody know if they are going to consume all my vegetables? Last year there was a groundhog back there also. Pretty sure something bad may need to happen to him if he reappears!

probably, they might not consume all of them but they probably will destroy most of them. I have a name of a guy with some good coon dogs.

Whats his name I still have not been. Mr. Earl Grey has asked me to go several times but I have not been able to yet.

I was afraid of that. Problem is, I have neighbors all around. Kind of limits blasting the little #$%@%&. My neighbor used to feed them dry cat food until he died. Now they kind of hang around every night looking for their handouts. Apparently he fed them for years!

If there is a local coon hunting club in your area, contact them. Some of them live catch coons to use in training their dogs.

I remember reading somewhere, maybe in a TWRA booklet, that once you live catch a coon, it can't be released alive. It has to be destroyed, as raccoons are notorious

carriers of rabies.

I bought a cheap live trap and catch them ugly possums in it. Since I am inside the city of Nashville I just drown them in one of my recycle cans (I got 2 and keep 1 full of water) and toss them in the trash. Should work for coons too.

I had one tear down a bird feeder last night. And tonight the wife and I are watching TV and the little bugger climbs up the feeder right next to my living room window. The dogs were going ape. I chased him off, but it didn't take 15 mins before it was back. Lets just say he won't be coming back. :D

I'll probably go to tractor supply and get a cage. I really think the $200 stamp and the can is the way to go in the long run. I've always wanted one, just never needed it. Now I have a definite need. Yeah, that makes since now!:D
