The Daisy powerline models at the big box store are perfectly fine for a kid. Plenty accurate. You can move up to competition rifles that'll put 5 shots in the same hole. The 4H teams use the Daisy 499 and 599.

If I were buying an air rifle right now - it would be a Umarex Gauntlet 2.  It‘s a PCP. From my perspective for the price - there’s not a close second.

But that’s too much rifle for an 11 year old who’s likely still getting handling basics squared away. I’m partial to the classic Crosman 760 Pumpmaster.

There are a lot of great air rifles out there.  I have a Hatsan PCP that is great.  Not inexpensive but certainly not the most expensive.  A great middle ground rifle.  Hope that help.

I've got a GAMO Wildcat Whisper that shoots pretty good, has taken many a squirrel and chipmunk in the backyard.

I recently bought a Daisy 880 after my old Crosman 760 bit the dust.  I wanted another 760, but the new ones are smoothbore and just look like junk.  When handling it, the 880 screams cheap, but it shoots well.

Find you an old Sheridan Blue Streak or an old Benjamin 312, 342, or 392. Good old wood and metal rifles. More than capable taken woodland critters or popping cans and such.
