Eye Opening Article about the NRA... Actually Not Really

I think Wayne LaPierre needs to go so the NRA can repair the damage done with members. No one likes to contribute hard earned dollars toward a cause only to find out the Executive leader is spending the money in frivolous and wasteful ways that don't advance the cause.

Having said that, I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over an article printed in ROLLING STONE in partnership with "The Trace" (a nonprofit 'newsroom' covering gun violence...their words, not mine.)

Why let the left divide us when their only goal is to weaken the strongest gun advocacy group in the world so the progressive-liberals can push thru their agenda with less organized & powerful opposition?

* Join GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA (GOA)

* Join SECOND AMENDMENT FOUNDATION (SAF)

* Contribute money to the NRA ILA (Institute for Legislative Action)

* Keep voting for the pro-gun candidates

But don't let these guys & gals (Rolling Stone & The Trace) convince you to stop supporting the NRA. Just keep telling the NRA Wayne has to go when they ask for money. At some point, maybe(!), the board of directors will do the right thing.

The problems within the NRA have been well known a long time prior to this article being published. Until WLP and his cronies are gone, they'll get no more of my money. This article just brings to light how financially bad the situation is now.

There are several other organizations that doing as better work on our behalf. I'll shift my funds to them.

One has to think that the NRA is well-aware of the dissatisfaction of its members, and yet WLP remains. I know we are a fairly small sampling, but I think it's likely that we're pretty representative of gun-enthusiasts as a whole. So why does the Board of Directors keep him? Oliver North sounded an alarm and moved to remove WLP, but quickly found himself out instead. WLP must have an iron-clad grip on the organization.

I also wonder if the NRA has someone who monitors forums like ours, and why they ignore what seems to a popular opinion among its members.

The board of directors is massively large with staggered elections for the purpose of insulating WLP’s ability to treat the NRA coffers as his personal piggy bank. It’s all but impossible to take the board and elect enough opponents of the current state of things to oust WLP. It’s the reason some of the orgs we do support because they do the real work even exist. Reformers from inside the NRA who recognized the futility and left to start orgs to do more than rip off donors.
