The wife had the day off today so I played hooky with her and we:

Went to her dentist appt

Went by Joelton gun store so she could look at the Sig 239, but she liked the Springfield EMP better

Went to lunch

Went to TDOS to fill out her HCP application and to process my renewal

Went to Guns and Leather to get her fingerprinted and to have some range time.

Well...once at Guns and Leather I showed her several different pistols, Sigs, Paras, but she kept going back to the EMP. Price wasn't too bad, cheaper than Joelton by a decent bit. After a bit of time, the yellow form...and my credit card came out and now she is the proud owner of her 1st pistol. A nice Springfield EMP 9mm 1911.

It's not a .45 but at least it's a 1911.:D

She shot it very well today on their range. Next...holsters and getting her comfortable with carrying in condition 1.

Yeah, baby, yeah! Is she available in the near future to try to talk some common sense into my wife? I'll gladly pay for the gas and lunch for the two of them, and supper, cause if she gets anything at all through my wife's hard head, it'll take her all day.:)

Not quite that much accomplished, but mine said she'd shoot "some" with me.

Baby steps.

Congrats, dunndw.

I'm not sure what the change in attitude was about. She never had any problems with me shooting/collecting. She was supportive of me getting into IDPA, she even would go to the range every once in a while.

One day last month she said "sign me up for your next class, I want my permit"

I had mentioned I would like her to get it, but she said she didn't want the responsibility of carrying in public. Not sure what changed her mind, but I'm happy

It's probably a combination of things she has seen on TV and heard from friends.

Glad she's on board. The more armed people we have walking around, the safer we all are.

Nice, my wife is excited about shooting some pistols, and has no problem with my carrying, can't wait to get her to the range. Guns sitll make her a bit nervous but I'm confident that once she she sends some lead down range I'll be pullin out the CC to buy her her first carry piece, and get her HCP all set.

BTW nice pistola choice there on the EMP. That is the one I got my eye on as a primary carry piece. I have a thread ont he handgun forum Springfield EMP or Para Hawg 9, your feedback woud be much appreciated there. I may just have to spring for 2 (I could live with that).

So far it's a nice pistol. It's a bit small for my hands, but very controllable even with 147 gr loads.

Her's is a bit picky on hollowpoints. They like to dig into the feed ramp. I'm thinking a bit of flitz will take care of it, but I haven't researched that particular issue yet.

Picked her up a Galco Combat Master rig she's happy with now. I let her try all my 1911 rigs. I use a Galco Concealable for IDPA and she was happiest with it. The Combat Master is close enough for her liking.
