I've been thinking of picking one of these up since they are under $600 and I always thought they looked cool. Anyone own one (or did) and have any advice? Are any of the upgrades out there must-haves? Or is it a platform I just shouldn't bother with?

I had one and liked it. Didn’t have any problems with it. I liked the Ruger PC 9 and my 9mm AR better. Sold it to member here and he likes it.

I've had a couple and they are certainly a unique carbine.  Reliable and accurate enough.   I don't often shoot it because I find it awkward to deal with the thumbhole style stock.   It's impossible to shift my hand forward enough to activate the the mag catch.   I need to reverse the mag catch so I can hit it with my trigger finger.

It can take either PX4 or 92 style magazines.   There's a kit that can convert from one style to the other, I think I did it on the PX4 version I had.

For what it's worth, I find the Ruger a much more handy and modular PCC in every way.

I have a CX4 in 9mm that uses the Beretta 92 mags and I like it a lot. Very well built. Accurate. Reliable. You can switch the charging handle and mag release to work for righty or lefty, which has been very handy. I haven't felt the need to accessorize it in any way. I was going to put a red dot sight on it, but the standard peep sight works so well, I just haven't felt the urgency to put an optic on.

My wife and my son enjoy shooting it, too. It is the home defense/ranch varmint rifle at the moment since it is so handy & easy to operate. I'd like to get a second one now that prices have come down. For a while there back in 2018/2019, these guns were scarce & prices were pushing into the $900 range. To get one for $600 seems like a "must buy" deal. You won't be disappointed & it's an easy sell if you tire of it and decide to move on.
