Has anyone here recently tried to use a pay pal debit card to make a sporting goods purchase,I did yesterday at Range USA to buy a set of Hogue grips for my S&W 638 and pay pal would not allow me to make said purchase.I called pay pal today and the support person told me this has been a long standing rule of theirs because they cannot control what we buy so they say nill to the purchase, does anyone find this remarkably politically incorrect,I even asked the person that it also includes any type of accessories including grips and such, and she said YUP.I asked her how this can be and she informed me that all I had to do was go to a ATM and draw the cash out to make my puchase,at which point I made it blatantly evident that this is MY MONEY and how can they tell me where I can spend it.I for one think this is BALDERDASH,and as soon as possible I will be cancelling anything to do with PAY-PAL.I would appreciate any feed back possible and tell me your opinions on this matter.

Nothing new. Paypal is rabidly anti gun. Close the account.

Funny thing it I'd bet your balance that you could sign up to any porn site with that same card.

I hate companies attempting to excerpt their moral authority on what I can and can't do. It's my money...not theirs.

+1, ive bought stuff from another individual before with paypal and had to say that the payment was for a video game or something(me and the seller agreed on it in PMs before payment was sent).

Paypal can be used for firearms related gear and accessories but not for firearms themselves. This is nothing new. Frankly were I in their position I'd probably consider adopting the same decision since the government could potentially hold them liable for facilitating illegal firearms purchases.

The problem isn't so much Paypal as it is the fact that we've allowed our society to become overly litigious.

You were using a PayPal debit card at a brick and mortar store, right? They have no way of knowing what you are buying, they just know that you're buying from a FFL dealer. I'm sure if they could somehow magically verify what you were buying from the store with your card, they would have OK'd it.

If you go to OpticsPlanet right now and order those same laser grips, you can use Paypal and it will go through. Ask me how I know.

(I've ordered CT grips from OpticsPlanet using Paypal before and had zero problems)

EDIT...

n/m I misread and thought you were ordering CT grips. I have no idea of OP has regular Hogue grips or not. But if they do, they accept Paypal and I know it will go through.

I thought the whole purpose of getting the paypal credit card itself was to be able to use it anywhere that accepts mastercard. I knew the policy was in effect for balance transfers but actual card purchases from a brick & mortar stores I thought was different.

It may not work, but if you were using the card as a MasterCard, not a debit card, then go to MC and tell them that PP is denying your use of you MC.

I may be wrong, but if your card has a Visa or MC logo on it, the issuer has to follow the rules of Visa & MC.

F%$# paypal. I have never used it and never will. If people wont take a good ole USPS money order, cash, or my debit card then I don't want what they are selling.

I hate Pay Pal. Take my money now, then pay it several days later. Use it for free. Never again. If that is the only payment method accepted, then no deal!! I have passed on several items because of paypal. Seller beware!!
