I am sure that it wouldn't...

I have to tell you guys about the letter that I sent to the MD of Corporate Security one of these days.

Im not so sure about that Canynracer. My brother-in-law is vehicle MX at a station in Memphis. About 2 months ago their MD had a meeting and told them that because of a lawsuit in FL they were now allowed to have their guns in their cars as long as the cars were parked in a specific area (non-gated but still on the corporate property - and they are trying to keep that very hush-hush).

It may end up working for some (like VehMX), but I bet it will not apply to any areas that have direct (or even indirect) access to the ramp...:D

My letter to the MD of Corporate Security requesting special dispensation, recieved an emphatic NO reply and was copied to my Sr. Manager and my MD...

I should have just shut up...

Well, we will see if it passes. My understanding is that the parking lots for the ramp are corporate property, not airport property. That would mean (I think) that the law would apply to those areas if it passes. I can hope, anyway...

Feel free to pm me about that letter, you have my curiosity peaked as I have considered writing one myself (fortunately discretion was the better part of valor).

The current policy does absolutely nothing to enhance the safety of the ramp. Corporate security must know how lacking they really are.

I did the Purple Promise gig for five years at an outlying station in Memphis area. I would work until all the drivers had their packages and then leave for the primary job which had me traveling 70K miles a year. I preferred just to keep my mouth shut as I didn't have time to drive all the way back home before going to the other job.

my employer has a nog uns on property bill, except with ammendments for GA and FL where similar bills have passed recently. Even with pledges and right to work talk, a law that has been recently enstated is plenty grounds enough for an employee to sue an employer, regardless of company policy or a pledge. at least that was how our law team intrepreted, thus adding that employees in FL and GA can leave a handgun in a locked car on company property.
