I scored this evening! I took my wife out to dinner, after which we went to Walmart for a few things. While wandering past the sporting goods counter, I had to satisfy my curiosity ... I knew that they'd have nothing in the handgun ammo department, but figured I'd take a moment to see for myself.

My jaw dropped when I saw the 5 boxes of Winchester .380 Ammo (100-round value packs @$31.92) on the shelf! The young man behind the counter said that they had just gotten it in, and placed it on the shelf an hour ago.

My wife, Dee, recognized the look I had on my face, when she asked me how many I wanted to get. "Can I get 3?" She said "go ahead, Sweetie."

The young employee set 3 of the boxes on the counter and asked if there was anything else he could get me. Sheepishly, I replied "uhh ... the other 2 boxes?" My wife looked at me, and said "go for it."

This was a great evening, and I have the coolest wife!

I've seen the same thing with primers down here in the Chattanooga Sportsman's Warehouse. I was told that they would have a shipment coming in on a certain day, so I show up. Lo and Behold, empty shelves, a sight that has become commonplace here. I ask about their primers, and was told "The truck came in earlier. Some guy bought 1,000, and a store employee bought the other 4,000."

I keep thinking all this "buy buy buy!" will ease up as people get a comfortable stockpile. So far, not so much. I need to sort through all my ammo and figure out what I'm short of.

Oh, and I need more .22lr dammit!

I had similar luck last Sat. morning when I wandered over to the ammo counter after they had put out .40 S&W. $28 for 100. It looked like they only had two boxes, but when I said "I'll take all you have," and three more boxes appeared, I was grinning.

Sportsman's Warehouse in Chatt. frustrates me. I can't find anything shooting wise that I need in there anymore. Not even a choke for my 870...

Well, besides the ammo and firearm distribution probs, operating under bankruptcy may be affecting their inventory control too.
