Can I purchase a gun?

Had an accidental discharge back in March. Actually called it in since I was in an apartment. Got arrested for Reckless Endangerment with a weapon. Still waiting to have court. Been put off a couple times. Had ordered a gun before this happened. Now it's been sitting at an FFL since. State Trooper friend of mine said yes because I've only been charged. What say you?

Call an attorney. Don't do anything until you get legal advice.

Have your FFL run it to see. Since you haven’t been convicted of anything I don’t know how or why they should deny it. If you are denied fill out the papers for explanation. Your FFL has that form too. They have to respond with a valid reason. Worse case your out $10 for the background check.

Is the charge a felony, or have a possible sentence of incarceration for more than 1 year? Those are the disqualifying factors at play in the 4473 questions. 
 

TICS may still deny based on the active case, even though by rights they shouldn't. But if you can answer those questions honestly you can know that you aren’t committing a crime at least by attempting to complete the transaction.
