Info / Help with a M2HB 50BMG barrel

Recommended Posts

Bought some old junk from an estate. Few incomplete wallhanger guns, bunch of empty gun boxes, stocks etc.. Nothing serviceable just man cave stuff.. And at the bottom of the pile was a m2hb 50bmg barrel in a sleeve.  The machine threads are perfect - bore is perfect - muzzle is perfect - headspace splines show that it was at least inserted at some point in its life.  I’m trying to determine what I have so to build a value and toss this thing in the Classified for someone who could use it. Any help is greatly appreciated

Cool! I didn't know that site existed. Thanks for sharing, and good luck to the OP selling that barrel.

Great find on a Ma Duce barrel.  I personally never owned one due to the cost of feeding it.  I had chances years ago on two mounted on a navy twin mount.  Fodder was 85 cents each back then.  You might call Barrett down toward Nashville and ask them.  I believe they uses them in modified form on their big dogs, but not sure.  Due to todays ammo prices shot out barrels are rare in civilian hands but it can happen if one’s got the bucks to spend.  The above posts sound good.

Barrett does not use them. They make their own barrels from blanks. The Barrett .50's all use a different chamber as well. One of the very original prototype designs may have used a modified M2 Barrel but production guns do not.

Didn’t know Barrett made their own barrels.

They buy blanks from the likes of Krieger, Rock Creek, Proof Research, and others depending on the product line. All chambering, exterior profiles, threading, and finishing is done in house at Barrett.
