It is clear to me that you do not love this country and you do not consider yourself an american, and you are only here in the role of a parasite. One who truly loves the ideas that this country was founded on would never spew such hatred toward her. I have traveled the world in the music business and I feel much the same as rightwinger. You cannot bridal me with your accusation of ignorance of the world, I'm quite sure I have logged more miles than you.

well, I`m not saying socialism is batter or not, I just tried to explain some things.People in USA will chose their destiny and pick the path they want. But to put down another socialist country and at the same time borrowing the money from them to keep our "perfect system" running is hypocritical...we can`t judge other people and their way of life and at the same time getting help from them to continue with ours...something is wrong, too much goverment power or too little? don`t know ... if I knew I would have already tried to help...and another thing, coming from Europe, I don`t think the whole world hates American people, people are the same anywhere, what other people hate is "we are better than anyone else" attitude some American people have, that kind of attitude never helped anyones popularity...and after all, every American has his roots in either European country, African country or somewhere else..unless of course, he is native American...

We aren't borrowing anything, our corrupt government is borrowing and using real estate as collateral. I am not referring to only the present administration. America has been going downhill since Clinton was elected. The slide continues.

REIFICATIONTo treat as though real that which is just an abstraction or a conceptualization. Sociologists since Durkheim have been accused of reifying society which critics say is just an abstract concept and does not exist. To act as though society exists and thus can act or make decisions or coerce people is to reify society.

From the Online Dictionary of the Social Sciences

Online Dictionary of the Social Sciences

I think the quote you listed is from What is Orthodox Marxism by Lukacs.

George Lukacs in Wiki

György Lukács - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From what I read there, George ran an awful lot, as after failed revolutions, people wanted to kill him, kinda like the people he is said to have executed.

During the revolution itself, as mentioned in "Budapest Diary," Lukács argued for a new Soviet aligned communist party. In Lukács' view the new party could only win social leadership by persuasion instead of force. Lukács envisioned an alliance between the dissident communist Party of Youth, the revolutionary Hungarian Social Democratic Party and Lukács' own Soviet aligned party as a very junior partner.

Sounds like Fabian Socialism with mix of Guild Socialism, even though Marxists are indignant at Fabian views.

The problem I see with centralized power is that you can't stop it. Start rolling that snowball down the hill and see if you can stop it once its halfway and the size of a house.

But what do I know, I hammer nails for a living.

I thought I'd define a few words here for those following the thread:

Araps- An Arab who is a rap artist

Paralize- Lies in a group of more than one, but less than 3

Hypocrats- Hyperactive bureaucrats

Trailor- A mobile tailor

If you read his entire post, he talks about how the Croatia that he grew up in doesn't exist anymore.

And I don't see any harm in people with different points of view sharing their opinions on what is wrong or right about our country, especially if they have experience living in another country as well as our country.

The person that has lived in the US for their entire life, though, is in a pretty lousy position to be bitching and moaning about how terrible socialism is and how the US is so much better than Europe.

And about the truck driver you recently had to deal with: He sounds like a real whiner.

In my 13 years in the military I have been all over Europe and believe me there is no place like America. And my friend socialism is horrible. Socialists like to say socialism makes everyone equal. Ask the thousands killed in Soviet purges how equal they were with those who ran the government. But wait, you can't they were killed for their defiance. No thanks. You can have your socialism. I've seen it in action

What would we do without you translating the words of a bumbling anti-american fool into common-speak?

After seeing your avatar the last couple of days Jcochran88, I'm going to have to ask you to remove it as "flinging cravings" is illegal in 32 states and the nearest McD's is Lafayette or Portland.

I haven't heard about this one on the net or radio.

No wonder. Just look at your name. You are obviously a right wing lune. (you don't have any guns do you?)......I bet you've never listened to a leftest talk show (and don't, I almost puked all the times I tried :))

 I truly just don't know where to begin to correct everything that is wrong with that paragraph...

Great, now we an English professor along with an economic professor :P

Thank you for clearing that up for him.

I have little time for radio any more, just to and from work and I tend to listen to Frank Wycheck push Mark Howards (lib) buttons! I do still wander over to the plethora of NPR stations just to see how and what is being presented by the other side. I used to listen all the time to NPR after Halloran Hilton Hill when I was based in Knoxville. Then switch over to Rush or G. Gordon depending on where I was and what I could get on the radio. I did lots of traveling.

The old saying holds true "keep your friends close but your enemies closer"!

I've never really found NPR to be either left or right. I really only listen to the news programs going to and from work but they seem pretty balanced to me at least. Never really tuned into their talk shows or anything though.

Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see...that it's not falling down.

The "news" is generally along the lines of what you get from NBC/CBS/ABC etc but when they go into their "topic" talk shows, you either get no representation from the conservative side or that rep gets talked over pretty quick. It's not as bad as the Quomo show was in it's short lived stint but it's still pretty clear that they have a leaning to the left and they are funded by the goverment or they wouldn't exist.

That is why the "fairness doctrine" is raising it's head now. Lib talk shows can't make money in the radio market so they have to be funded to continue.

Don't worry bout it

Although he missed on the "trailor", I am no longer the trim youth I was back in the day. I will say though that although I have a gut, I have no ass!:P

I would ask for verification on this but it would require The Bronker or Jcochran88 to do so and I don't think they are willing to admit to what they did or did not see on our recent hunting excusion!:cool:

How do I start? I lived in a socialist country and saw how "great" that was. Check individual heath stats on people in the UK. I also got a close look at communists across the Berlin Wall, so don't bother telling me how great that system is.

A lot of what 44 says about our society sounds like the old Soviet propaganda... and a lot of it is true. We're not perfect. But socialism (or communism) is not the answer. What's happening in our country today is due to the moral and ethical break-down of the INDIVIDUAL. The results in gov't only reflect that. Far too many people in our country today expect something for nothing and are no longer willing to work for what they want. Much of our debt is due to some in our gov't trying to artificially make everyone "equal". This never helps anyone, it only drags everyone down into the same hole together.

What 44 failed to mention is the multitude of problems that exists in socialist/communist nations (crime, black market, mafia, crooked gov't officials, being jailed w/o recourse, "re-education" camps, ect...). Even in the workers paradise, some people are more "equal" than others (Animal Farm).

I guess all I can say at the end of the day is this: Americans have never had to build a fence to keep our people in, only to keep bad people out.

NPR doesn't have talk shows period, AFAIK. (I have no idea what NPR programming RightWinger is referring to, as they aren't on WUOT here in Knoxville).

Talk of the Nation

Tell Me More

One of the "talks" I took great notice of was when they had a National Private Investigative Professional Group speaker on after the Hewlitt Packard internal investigations. The leader of the discussion basically called the spokesman for PIs a "spy" and cut him off during any rebuttal he tried to make. They have discussed urine in a bottle as art to travel of ducks.

It's not call in talk radio but

"Tell Me More lets me bring together two longtime passions: the intimacy and warmth you experience with powerful radio and the lively, sharp debate about things going on in the world that I enjoy having with friends of diverse backgrounds. That can mean such diverse topics as immigration, gun control, the impact of shock jocks and international adoption," said Martin. "I see Tell Me More as a gathering place for dialogue about the important issues facing the country. But we also talk about the challenges and opportunities we all face living in a fast-paced, complicated society. And we are a home for conversations with NPR News' outstanding correspondents around the world, such as Ofeibea Quist-Arcton, Juan Forero and Gwen Tompkins."

Listen to her and you will shortly know which way she leans
