socialism is NOT a communism first of all...

second, we don`t live in socialism, this is not a socialist country...

third, communism was a ficition, it was a book, utopia, like Orwel`s 1984 or any other Sci-Fi..it was a book about "what if"..what if all the people were even, what if we all have equal rights, what if there was no money but rather everyone has what they need...? how is that bad idea?? beats me... the fact that some lunatics around the world called their terrorist systems "communism" doesn`t mean that that`s what it really was...

fourth...socialism is system where everything is concentrated on society, on middle class and working man and farmers..it is not about corporations and rich but rather about regular people... in socialism corporations are owned by the goverment, CEO`s are appointed by the goverment (without any kind of million dollar bonuses) and corporations are governed by the workers who work there thru the union`s...to live in socialism doesn`t mean that you can`t own the gun, it may be a longer process to make sure responsible people become gun owners... I was born and raised in socialism and it was far from perfect (there is not perfect system on this world) , and I remember free schools, going to the doctor any time I was sick and picking up my medications from the pharmacy, all for free, I remember my grandpa and my uncle having hunting guns and hand guns and all with a permit... what I don`t remember were mass killings, school shootings, people losing their farms because of unability to pay doctor bills, people putting the second mortgage on their house to pay for their kids education etc...while it was not all that good, it sure wasn`t all that bad either...there was no big fat CEO`s making millions of dollars but there also was not people diggin in garbage can`s looking for food....I guess, what I`m trying to say is that the fear from socialism is not based on anything real..socialism happeneds only if society wants it..the goal of socialism is not to take anyone gun right away, the goal of socialism is to make sure that everyone has a decent live and is taken care of....

Nothing against the OP personally, just an observation, but if you want people to take you seriously, work on your typing. Capitalization, periods, question marks, spelling, and fewer "..." would help out tremendously.

Where did you immigrate from 44M?...

Well I've got a nickel to add. The Capitalist system is based on two things that I see neither of anymore. 1) Rationality 2) Competition. What they have been replaced with is 1) Emotion based Consumerism 2) Entitlement, Greed, or Passivity.

The point that I think the original poster makes, which is a valuable one is that the system that we are living in is not functioning properly. I see a clear lack of any sense of direction in the majority of our youth. Socialism may not be the answer to that problem, but as a country we are going to have to do something to regain our bearings.

Why do you think this country accomplished what it has in just over 200 years???? Many countries have more natural resources. Our people are not smarter than others from around the world. But yet we lead the world in almost everything. It's because our founding fathers did not believe in the decrepit government models of Europe, and created something infinitely better. Yet lefties continue to push us in that direction dooming us to the mediocrity that is Europe. Yeah, real enlightened.

Yeah, go back to original principles that created this nation. Funny the closer we get to the socialized European model the more F#@* up we get. THANKS FDR!!!

Well, I'm definitely enlightened, but not about communism or socialism...

It seems to me there are varying degrees of socialism. I have heard people use the term "soft" socialism VS "hard socialism". But in any case..

This is merely YOUR VIEW of "socialism". I understand you wish we could have heaven on earth. "Fear of socialism" is just people understanding how impossible that notion is. You cannot implement your world socialist system without deciding what to do with your opposition.

And here we are. It doesn't matter how soft the velvet glove you use is...we see the iron fist behind it. We'd love what you have to offer...if it were actually attainable.

Socialism is worshiping The State and I won't willingly have anything to do with it...

ahh jeez!

Everything's free! Come and get ya some! If all 44m says was even half true, wouldn't folks be flocking to immigrate to this country/state/district/prospekt ?

I haven't heard about this one on the net or radio. Guess I'm still totally misinformed. Will just have to suffer by trying to make my way under the capitalist method feeding the fat cats.

Hmm, well I suppose we could at least blame Poak for any thread drift now by saying we left him "holding the bag" as it were.
